Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 70 comments I've just finished my fifth book and it's a change of genre from historical to Speculative Fiction or as Amazon has put it Science Fiction - Metaphysical and visionary.

Immortality This Is Probably a Novel by Anna Faversham

I'll yatter on about it another time but I just wanted to let everybody (well, perhaps a person or two) know that I now have a blog.

I expect many of you have a blog or two or more already. This is my first blogging attempt and it's here on Goodreads:

https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog...

Now I know you all have heaps to do but if you want to get to know my work better (maybe you don't but could you just pretend, please) you could take a look :o) And bit by bit you'll find out more than I should probably be telling.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 70 comments How do you make God laugh? I've a feeling I made him laugh a lot when I packed my bag and went to look after a puppy too young to go into kennels. I had such plans...

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Please take a look - despite the virus, various lockdowns, the US election, and the dark nights this really is a wonderful world.

And if you go there quickly you'll see that a time travel romance Hide in Time is reduced to 0.99 until 9th November. Or, of course, if you are a Kindle Unlimited member it's FREE!)

T.K. Arispe (tkarispe) Wow, you've been busy! Great job looking after all of those animals! I also had a very ironic dogsitting experience recently, so I know how you feel! Her owners told me that she was elderly and acted a lot like a cat, so I was expecting a quiet, relaxing writer's/illustrator's retreat at their house.

What none of us anticipated was that the dog would develop severe separation anxiety since this was the first long trip her owners had taken since March, and she began acting antagonistically toward me because I was in the house instead of her "parents". It took a few sleepless nights, and enduring the constant barking and very distressing noises a dog makes when it's having a panic attack (they kind of sound like dying elephants), before her owners and I finally exhausted all other ideas and they told me where her anxiety medication was.

After the first couple of doses, she calmed down considerably, and things stabilized after that. But she is also a very scheduled creature who apparently likes to take her evening walks at a very particular time--regardless of what you might happen to be doing. So every night, as I was eating dinner, she would walk over to the table and start barking in my ear. Her owner said the dog would not take very long walks since she was old, but she took me on grueling walks around a hilly neighborhood, and by the time we got back to the house, I was probably more exhausted than she was.

I love animals, but I don't particularly enjoy looking after them. My very easygoing cat is about all I can handle.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 70 comments Ah, yes, I see you had an exhausting time of it too. Bit optimistic of us to think we would have time to read and write!

message 5: by T.K. (new)

T.K. Arispe (tkarispe) Right? I hope you're getting plenty of writing time now!

message 6: by Anna (new) - added it

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 70 comments Definitely better now and, as a new national lockdown started today, I won't have as many interruptions! I have even got round to plotting.

message 7: by T.K. (new)

T.K. Arispe (tkarispe) That's definitely a silver lining of lockdowns! I've been feeling much the same way, actually. I got my latest novel written during the US's big lockdown earlier this year. I hope everything goes well over there during this new lockdown!

Please rescue it - the hero’s having a hard time, they’re all out to get him and the heroine’s 12,000 miles away and being kept in the dark. Only you can save them from oblivion.

Hi Anna! How are you? Are you looking for reviewers for your book? If so, I'd love to read and review it in exchange for a physical copy, as I don't really have a good way to read ebooks. Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 70 comments How do authors think of an opening line to the first book they write? Until I wrote my first book, I don’t think I ever thought or even cared how they came up with something snappy or enlightening. But first lines of books have become famous. Think of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ or probably the most famous of all time "In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth." Well my blog gives you one idea of how it can happen for an ordinary writer! Rather embarrassing really.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 70 comments Injections of Joy

We’ve heard a lot about injections lately and we’re told they’re doing a good job. There’s another injection doing a good job: something unexpectedly cheerful can feel just like an injection of joy. I won a prize! Definitely unexpected and definitely something good.

There’s also the usual sage saying, handy hint and stress reducer. And news of three of my books being reduced to as low as £0.77/$0.99 (similar prices for all markets) or a little bit more for the other three.

Hop on over to https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog... and share your idea of an injection of joy. Children? Grandchildren? Holiday? Meeting someone new and super...? Finally being able to meet in church together again, or a restaurant, or concert?

There’s something for readers – want to choose an Indie author for me to interview?

Something for authors – want to have a mini interview?

Something for everyone – fancy writing a drabble and posting it in the comments? Go ahead, have fun. A drabble is a very short story – exactly one hundred words, no less, no more.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 70 comments February’s blog takes a look at two more authors’ reasons for writing. Writing takes up an awful lot of time so why do they do it?

There’s also a poem by a Goodreads member and it sure will make you think. Are we all sometimes guilty of this? Can we change? Does giving an orange, banana or choccie bar help? You be the judge.

I’m also asking you to share on the blog your favourite stress reducers.

The link takes you to a place to ponder and share:

This book gives you a glimpse of what lies beyond... (or does it?)

“The pacing is great. The dialog is great. The sense of place is … phenomenal.”

“…you’ll love watching Chester’s world slowly unravel.”

“I realised just how clever the plot is”

“His yearning for Kate was also intriguing; what had happened between them, would they be reunited?”

“…the storytelling is so skilled that the layers of meaning are revealed and understood in good time, and to powerful effect. A compelling novel that I didn’t want to put down, this is a highly-recommended read.”

All the above are Goodreads’ reviewers and are obviously intelligent, kind, wonderful people! I promise I am not related!

It’s good to treat yourself occasionally and at 0.99 it doesn’t cost much. (US and UK)

https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog...

Something a little different this month as this is the month when many of us will be scratching our heads (or whatever you do when you absolutely have to do some thinking). What to buy for Christmas presents? Easy: a book. It’s something that lasts, can be treasured, can be shared and most of all can bring joy – and that is precisely what Christmas tends to do.

I’ve done your searching for you. Ahem. Three of my paperback books have been reduced in price to the very lowest that Amazon allows for authors in their Kindle Direct Publishing. At their very lowest, the author receives nothing. So that’s me! I’d like them to have been even cheaper but Amazon have to make their money…

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 70 comments It’s a Wonderful World

https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog...

I’ve recently returned from a trip Down Under and I spent some time at a favourite beauty spot, a café in Scorching Bay, Wellington, New Zealand. Munching brunch, I remembered a scene from one of my books set just around the headland in Breaker Bay which features in Immortality This Is Probably a Novel by Anna Faversham

“Suddenly he saw it: the most magnificent roller advancing steadily towards the shore. A shout went up and all paddled furiously towards the beguiling breaker. He caught the wave, stood and steadied himself. The magic carpet took off; he was flying once again. For a few precious moments the exhilaration bore him up to surfers’ heaven – no drug could compare.”

And then something shocking happened.

And it’s reduced to 0.99 in the US and UK from 25th February to 1st March 2024.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 70 comments In the US on 4th July you are celebrating: here in the UK we have a General Election. On 5th July, the UK will be reeling from the results – whatever they are.

Many people are worried about the future. I found on my travels earlier this year that our friends in New Zealand and Australia have similar worries to us. Friends in the US and Canada say the same. Thousands of miles away, yet we face similar worries and threats.

Many writers and health practitioners over the years have given us tips on how to cope with worries. As a reader and writer, I would say: read a good book. And it’s true, isn’t it? If you get lost in a book, you’re in another world.

Hop over to the blog and read more and add your thoughts please – we need good tips I think you'll like the blog.

One person who found he was up to his ears in trouble is Chester. Chester manages to get through some horrendous situations but eventually he helps others on the way. As an investigative journalist, he’s come up against a crime gang. And when he gets to New Zealand, he finds life is not quite what he imagined and he narrowly misses… well, I’d better not give out any spoilers.
