We get the point of view of the killer as he describes how he murdered each victim. Did having his perspective help in any way?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments It is scary whenever I read a story from the murderer's perspective. Marsons did a good job showing how sick the murderer is.

The actual murders of those girls were vicious and inhuman. It helped me to figure out it would have to be someone completely devoid of a conscience or humanity. It’s one of the reasons why William was at the bottom of my list of suspects...his love and kindness toward his daughter, Lucy, was in conflict with what was done to those girls.

I agree about William. I also think it was meant to be a bit of a red herring; it caused me to focus on one killer vs two.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments It helped me figure out who the original serial killer was, and the fact that the new killer was not the same person.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments One thing I learned from our book discussions is to pay attention to many more details than I did in the past. A good author will give clues without giving away all the secrets.

Sharon, I’ve definitely learned that over the years of discussions. It’s especially true when you’re listening to the story.
