New Adult Book Club discussion

Hi everyone - hoping someone might be able to help me find a book I read a while ago. I cannot for the life of me remember the title or author and it’s eating at me. I’ve looked at my bookshelf, several book blogs and nothing! I think I read this maybe a year or two ago and it’s definitely a series! I’ll try to include as much detail as I possible can and hopefully someone will recall what book this is!

This is definitely a paranormal/fantasy new adult/adult series. I do recall the book starting with the heroine leaving her usual home to somewhere new and she meets the Hero in a car as they’re on their way to the new house. They do not get along right away - he’s a broody guy. Over time, the heroine realizes that her father is someone important and powerful which makes her a target to others. She’s kinda on her own figuring things out (she didn’t know her father). I also remember there was a steamy scene in a closet with the hero and heroine during a party and it made me think they’re kind of a forbidden love. The hero is also well known and important among their world.

I’m so sorry I don’t have more details! I can’t remember if it’s a vampire story but I do think it might be! It reminds me of Jennifer L Armentrout books, but it’s def not one of hers - ive checked! The book I read ended on a cliffhanger so I would assume that there is at least two books if not more at this point! It’s definitely not more than 5 years old & def not from 2020 (maybe 2019 or 2018?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hello!! I wish I had more details. Okay I definitely think the heroines mom was murdered right before she left to live in this new place. I think it might be a kind of apocalyptic world and she met the hero in a limo as they were both going to her new home. She might’ve been some kind of survivor hunting evil stuff right before her mom was murdered. I’m not sure if if this helps more or makes it more complicated haha. I’ve been searching nonstop but it’s so hard to remember.

Sounds a bit like Unbreakable by Kami Garica?
