Welcome to the 2020-21 WINTER GAMES! This our 5th year we have done The Games and I am so excited!

Sign ups are open so we are currently accepting Team Leaders, and readers!

- Leaders will be in charge of tallying the teams totals and cheering on their own team! Of course they are also racking in points with reading, they just have a little extra responsibility to keep the totals up to date (1-2 times a month or so I recommended so you don't fall too far behind!)
- Readers are just that, readers! You get to rack in your points and make sure to update your own personal post.

Once leaders are assigned, I will get in touch with them and provide them their teams and set up their folder. So no need to worry about that!

Duration

The duration of the race will be from Midnight, December 1st, 2020 through Midnight, March 16th, 2021. So you have fifteen weeks to RACE through your books and pages.

The Rules

Any and all formats will be allowed (hard back, large print, paper back, e-books, audio books, graphic novels, manga, etc.)

On December 1st at midnight, you can use the book you were currently reading as long as you are 50 pages or less from the start. Likewise, on March 16th at 11:59 p.m., the book must either be completed or within 50 pages of completion to count as your final book!

There isn't a minimum or maximum number of books per person - just read!

Every and all books count towards your teams score!

Make sure to keep in contact with your Team lead and update, chat and cheer on your team!

You don't have to update exactly when you finish a book, but I will be tallying totals from time to time and updating the Scoreboard, so make sure you are updating it as often as you can!

The Obstacles

This year, obstacles are looking different! They are not required. You get FIVE extra points for each obstacle you complete no matter the pages.

Obstacles are listed as weekly obstacles, but you know me - I am not picky on rules and you can finish the "weekly" obstacle at anytime; it does not have to be completed during that "designated" week. I added it weekly because it is always fun to try to get it done that week and gives anyone who is in a reading slump the chance to find a book that fits!

Please note that this does not have to be an obstacle based game. Your team can purely read whatever they want and rack up points that way!

The Point System - Regular Books

100 pages to 499 pages: 1 point
500 pages to 999 pages: 2 points
1,000 and plus pages: 3 points

Obstacle books are 5 points each, no matter the page length! The 5 points will automatically replace the typical point system when it is an obstacle book.

So if you read a 100 page book (typically 1 point) and it is an "obstacle" book, it is FIVE points. If you read a 1,000 page book (typically 3 points) and to is an "obstacle" book, it is FIVE points.

The Awards

Top Team: Book Amount
Top Team: Page Amount
Top Team: Points
Top Personal Reader: Book Amount
Top Personal Reader: Page Amount
Top Personal Reader: Points
Most Exciting Team Name (picked by my wonderful husband and 2 best friends! & no, I promise they do not know what group I am part of; I play fair!)

I wanted to add, for clarification, Obstacle points can only be claimed once per obstacle!

So if you read a classic for the classics week, you get 5 points! But if you read another classic, you cannot use it under Classics week again!
