A dead body is found in a barrel of asphalt in a landfill next to the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina, and Tempe Brennan is called in on the case. But the FBI confiscate the body and the case files for some mysterious reason. Then a racecar engineer asks for Tempe's help in finding his missing sister, who disappeared 12 years earlier with her boyfriend, who had ties to a local militia group.
It's been awhile since I read a book in this series, as I had gotten tired of Tempe years ago. But this book held my attention with a solid mystery, good action and steady pacing. The auto racing involvement was interesting, and the reader is given lots of trivia about its history. Who knows, I may just go back to this series one of these days.
