Reading chapter 1 and 2 now.

Chapter 1 and 2 read. (view spoiler)[ So we know that Thomas is the main character and so far we know that he is somewhere he doesn't know where though. He is sixteen years old. Alby is their leader. (hide spoiler)]

I feel like we set it for 2 chapters but I have more time so I changed it to three.

Yeah. It'll take less time to read and because I got the book from the library this works better than two chapters a day.

Up to chapter 4
(view spoiler)[ Hasn't really grabbed my attention yet, but I know it gets better than this. So excited to go through the process of meeting Newt and Minho again, I love them. I'd forgotten how little info we get at the beginning (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 1-3
(view spoiler)[ I know what you mean about forgetting how little detail there is. I was sure the part where Thomas was in the box was longer. It’s been a while since I read this. There is less detail than I remembered and the chapters are way shorter than I thought. I don’t remember there being over 60 chapters in this relatively short book (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 8 (view spoiler)[ There's a creepy animal in chapter 6. Next, Thomas wants to become a runner. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 9
(view spoiler)[ I remember the details from the movie way more than the details from the book. This all makes way more sense though. The feeling that he had to be a runner was never mentioned in the movie. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Looks like we're finally getting to some of the action, but not much. To be honest, Thomas is irritating. The way he talks and thinks about other people is so harsh, like he's so much better than them. Especially Chuck, he's so mean to him. I'm not looking forward to having to deal with Teresa, she irritates me (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I didn’t like Teresa I the film, I’m hoping she might be different in the book. The action picked up then slowed down but it appears to be picking up again now. I feel like that’s gonna be a constant pattern in the book. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Yah, I hated Teresa in the movies, she irritated me so much. And I agree with you about the action. I’m still not super interested in this, it may just be because of the pace we’re reading it, but it just feels like it’s moving so slow. We’re a quarter of a way through the book, and yet we don’t even have our main conflict defined all that well (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 26
(view spoiler)[ I did like that council meeting. It was more in depth than in the movie and the system made more sense. I’ve been more interested in the book in the last few chapters. It’s looking up. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 33-
(view spoiler)[ I’ve gotten pretty into this book so I’ve read more today. I feel like the story has picked up. I’m interested in Thomas’ back story now. I like that he can hear Teresa’s thoughts. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 28
(view spoiler)[ I’m getting a bit tired of Thomas. He just feels the need to constantly be asking questions, and he talks like he’s illiterate. I’d forgotten how much I hated the vocabulary the Gladers used, it makes them sound like idiots. I love Minho and Newt though, so I’m happy they’re getting some page time (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I liked the storyline better in this than in the movie. The epilogue was a nice twist at the end that I’d forgotten so it makes me want to read the next book more. I don’t know what but something just fell flat in this book. Maybe the relationships between the characters and the characters emotions. I felt like this could’ve been better than it was. Finished (view spoiler)[ Overall I'm not very impressed. I want to watch the movie though I was not very impressed by the book. I never really connected with any character but I thought the ability for Thomas to read Teresa's mind was cool. The epilogue was cool and it makes me want to continue the series. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ This meeting is intense! So stupid to even talk about punishing him. He only broke the rule to save people. Gally is terrible. I don't know what his problem is but I think he may be on to something with Thomas being different than the others and changes coming with him. (hide spoiler)]
