One of Us Is Lying
question
*SPOILER ALERT* Did you guess who killed Simon correctly?
I was mislead by the title One of Us is Lying. I thought one person's account is unreliable or wrong all the time, and it's readers' job to figure who's lying. That being said, how it turns out all of them are telling what REALLY happened disappointed me a bit. Enjoyed the story though.

I was sure that none of the 4 killed him. I actually thought it was Maeve.

Kind of the same. When I started to read it I thought one of them was the criminal, but drop the idea when there were hints Simon did suffer and had t

I thought for seconds in the start of the book, because all of the "group" were trying to find the killer, and Simon's friend was always saying stuff like "he was disturbed"... so I thought "If he killed himself to get attention, the thing he always wanted to".
But in the end I had shock "REALLY?? SIMON???"

yeah, sort of. after the whole 4chan thing, and then kris said the same thing, he's a smart guy and I was like "OMG YES THATS WHAT I THOUGHT" but I never expect the jake's part, though its not really surprising.
i thought the twist would be one of the four cosuspect is literally lying about not kill him, woulve more interesting tbh. especially if that person can outsmart everyone.

I had a feeling that none of the 4 did it and more to the end when they were saying he was disturbed and he used to watch school shooting videos and that he thought that was a lame way to get atention before you die its better to do something that no ones ever done before. It was quite obvious that he planned it all. And tbh I was glad that none of the main 4 ended up being the killer.
I knew that it wasn't anyone from the room, but it really surprised me that Jake was somehow involved.
i thought that simons suicide was predictable, but i didn´t suspect jakes involvement at all!
NO. I never would've guessed. I recommended the book to my sister and she guessed in the first chapter

I actually thought it was Addy because she just seemed so innocent and I felt like she didn't want to anyone to know about the cheating.

Honestly, no I wasn't which made me feel really dumb for not being able to piece it together faster lmao.
But I think that was such a good twist because more times than not we'll be given some character who had done it for whatever reasons, yet this time it was the victim themself who hurt themselves. It was an exciting change-up which I liked.

You know, surpringly, I had a pretty good idea that Simon did off himself. I dunno,.just after reading the book more, I had a feeling that none of them did it. Like, none of them gave off "im the killar vibes" and Simon just seemed kinda off from the beginning you know?
tbh, no. I was pretty sure that he wasn't killed by one of them, but the title somehow tricks you and makes you think that one of the 4 students killed him. The plot twist was a bit disappointing, but I didn't have high expectations from the book anyway.
i called it the second he died, who doesn't bring an EpiPen with them at all times when that have that severe of a allergy?

In the middle of the book, I ended up figuring it out, although, I was kinda unsure of my answer.
Nope I accidentally spoiled myself halfway though the book reading ahead. Learned my lesson. Still a good book though.
I completely thought it was Janae or that Simon killed himself, but Jake certainly was a surprise
tbh i love this book and i did guess it correctly bc it was so obvious and jake he was such a bad character tbh but the book was amazing overall
While reading the book, I was trying to figure out who the killer was.
I never thought that Simon actually committed suicide. I know that there are some people saying that they saw it coming, I didn't.
I just think tat it is crazy. Definitely a good book and I do recommend it.
I also want to talk about the difference between the book and the series.
I mean in the show it's not suicide. Jake basically killed him and it was just way crazier. I was disappointed that they did change a lot from the book so that it came less and less believable.
When I saw the show I didn't understand how Simon could agree to the "i dare you" game, especially with jake ?!
I don't know show was crazier than I expected, that's fs.

Initially I suspected Addy and then Cooper, but towards Addy's boyfriend (Matt?) discovering the one time she cheated and burning herself out, I thought to myself. "What if none of them did it?" Not necessarily thinking it was suicide, but suspecting foul play from Simon's friend (I really can't remember her name) that she later regretted.
honestly yes, I tried to think what would be unexpected yet won't ruin the characters, it wouldn't be the 4 main characters and could only be someone who was in the room therefore Simon, and it made sense. the jake part I didn't suspect though
I knew neither of them was guilty but I have to say the ending took by surprise, it was a good plot twist.
On the other hand, I really didn't like the way they find out, it was so "light", I don't know how to describe it but I didn't feel anything from the characters, please tell me if someone felt the same way

I can kind of guessed it correct but at the starting I thought it was actually the teacher all along.
I guessed it. The book was pretty predictable at times, but I still enjoyed it. For those who liked this- read A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson. It's one of my favorites.
I thought it was Bronwyn because she seemed kinda smart to pull it off.
i was convinced that cooper had killed simon for the longest time, (my theory was that cooper and simon were romantically involved, so when cooper's sexuality was revealed, that just added to my theory), but at some point it dawned on me that it was a planned suicide. i never suspected jake being involved for a moment, but i never liked him anyway
I thought it was his best friend Janae, which would have amped the book up a little more IMO. Also, once Janae was ruled out and less present in the book, I hoped Simon faked his death. Both directions felt like the more interesting route; therefore, I was a bit disappointed with the ending to be honest.
Because I have read only the 1st pat, I think Simon took his own life so that when he would die he would blame this all to the 4 who were the last left in the room with him.
Yeah... I guessed who it was right after he died. I never really thought it was anyone else and thought it was him the whole time. As the book went on, it just proved my theory. Although I didn't expect Jake until about halfway through.
kinda guessed it was Jake but didn't think it was a suicide...
I knew that it couldn't be any of them from the first few chapters. I suspected that it was Jake at first, but wasn't surprised that it was Simon (and Jake so I was technically right).
So at first I was thinking "there's four people maybe ALL of them had something to do with it". but after a little bit of reading I was convinced it was Jake. Also Shout out to Karen! You rock Auntie!

I thought the teacher did it somehow, because I loved the four
at the beginning of the book, I thought that Simon might have killed himself because ei am too kind to blame any of them because they all seemed so nice except for Nate but I never saw a reason why he might kill Simon. other than that I loved the romantic plot of it because it was so interesting to find out one of them is gay and the good girl likes the bad boy.
I literally started a table with motives for everyone. One of us is lying kind of was the first YA book I ever read. So obv I guessed wrong. LOL. But from now on suicide is always my first assumption lmao
Since the title was “Ome Of Us Is Lying” I thought it was one of the four at the start but then I suspected the teacher, then some random student who might hate Simon…. But I really didn’t think that Simon would have killed himself!
I guessed it correctly maybe from just before the half-way mark, and this assumption kept on growing as I learned more about the characters. And then it struck me that Simon has never been one with good mental health. Also, Jake was completely unexpected, that was such as good twist! I just love books that make you interpret the ending, it's so entertaining

I thought it was Addi for a fair bit of the book and then I was convinced someone came in and did it but then yeah plot twist
i did guess jake right but i didnt suspect simon doing it himself. that part totally shocked me, but it made so much sense to his character.
yes! at the beginning I kind of guessed it, but I almost shut myself down. I don't really know why, because I was right. I kind of knew Jake would be part of it. He was a brat.
I thought it was some random student who hated Simon or one of the 4, then Janae and then Jake I never thought it would actually be Simon 😂
Yeah, I kinda figured out he did about halfway through the book so when it was revealed it wasn't too shocking.

I knew from the beginning it wasn't one of the 4 but I thought for a while it was someone who snuck into the room. I realized probably about 1/3 into the book that it was Simon though.

Do they ever address how Addy's secret is discovered by Simon? What about Cooper's? I feel like there are some plotholes in this book even though I enjoyed it overall.
yeah, i always had a little suspicion it was suicide, but i didn´t expect jake to be a part of it.
It was so predictable. I wasn't even thinking anymore about who killed Simon throughout the story like the most of the rest did. I wasn't even shocked about the outcome. But I really liked the story though. Addy was like all about evolving herself and the love between Nate and Bronwyn was so cute. I didn't care about Cooper though lol. But you go girl Addy at the end haha. Stupid Jake.
