Is it true that the preface is the most skipped page in a book?

For me, I skip the preface about 35-40% of the time. I've learned, however, that there is often good and sometimes critical info in a preface, so I am reading them more and more.

I never understood why preface exists so I also used to skip it until I started to write. I appreciate each page of the book now. Everything is connected!

I found that some authors put really helpful information forward or preface. Some talk about their lives and give writing advice.
