100 Books Challenge discussion

I thought I might put it out there about maybe scheduling a group read for next year. I've drawn a random of 5 numbers from the list below. I don't know which books they are yet, but I purposely made them ones I haven't read. Please see if any are of interest to you & let me know. If we decide on one, I'll send a message to members. I honestly doubt we get any interest, but the possibility is always there. :-)

I have not gotten one yet. I’ll order it from the library.

Given the controversy surrounding Frey's book I will not be reading it.

My copy is in, but I forgot to stop & pick it up. I’ll get it Monday.

I understand, Tessa. I kind of feel the same & will read it & take it all with a grain of salt as the expression goes.

I picked up my copy. Just now, Melissa. I can start tonight. I’ll set up a discussion thread later today. Easier on my laptop.

I picked 5 more random numbers so we can choose our next group read. Actually, Alexa picked them & I kept going until I found 5 that I hadn't read. I have read Little House, but want to read it again. Let me know if any of you are interested in reading any of these or pick another that you would prefer.

Also ... you realize that you have TWO by Peter Carey? Might be nice to have more variety.

Yes the highlighted ones. I did not realize 2 were by the same author. There’s also another on the list by the woman who wrote Fall on your Knees. I hated that book.

If there’s another one you’d like to read please do pick it. If I’ve read it I can discuss, but probably not read again. I’m back to my normal reading habits. Thankfully!!

Well, my library system doesn't have True History of the Kelly Gang ... that surprises me, as I have heard about this book pretty regularly over the years. They DO have Jack Maggs and another group I'm in has a challenge for April to read "gothic" which this book fits. So I guess that's my vote for next month.

I won't re-read Little House On the Prairie, but I'll read another book in that series ... I never read them as a child and have been trying to work my way through all of them. Next up for me is # 8 These Happy Golden Years. BTW they are ALL wonderful on audio. Cherry Jones narrates and she does a fabulous job.

I never read the Little House books either. I’ve only read the first one. Ok. I’ll see if I can get Jack Maggs from my library.

I was on my phone earlier, but I really like this idea. I'll add the books now.

I was able to place Jack Maggs on hold with my library. Says will be about 2 weeks. :)

I’ve ordered Shell Seekers from my library. June will be here before we know it. :-)

I'm still reading The Stone Angel, but have updated our current group read to True History of the Kelly Gang. I'll request it this week from the library as I'll be finishing and turning in TSA.

I just requested it from my library also. It is on hold but I should get it soon.
