Daisy connected with Kim. I think people who are abused recognize, on some level, others who have similar experiences.
I learned about eidetic memory from another book!
I agree about wounded souls sharing a kinship. It’s in the eyes. Daisy chose Kim to give that stare. She tried the same with Jenks but he didn’t recognize it. Kim did.
With Dougie, he may be autistic but his hearing is perfect and apparently so are his cognitive skills. He heard that Kim wasn’t an Alex fan and felt safe to share his notebooks with her. Amazing moment.

I don't know if this is true in real life, but it seems in books, that damaged characters recognize damage in others, giving them a kind of kinship.

I agree that wounded souls recognize one another when they make eye contact. Daisy broke my heart but I'm glad she realized Kim was someone safe who would help her.
I was surprised by Dougie's role - I didn't see it coming earlier. But I loved that he was part of bringing Alex down when she had dismissed him as being smitten with her.
