Topic explains it all. I figured I'd split it up month to month otherwise you wind up with a daunting 500 post topic that no one really wants to sift through to participate in. Moderator feel free to change that if necessary.

Anyway. For manga I'm currently reading D.Gray-man. I'm 21 volumes in. There are currently 26. Currently releasing one chapter every 3 months I question whether it will ever be completed.

I also finished a Shonen Romance series called Parallel. It was only 4 volumes so it was quick and easy. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's written by the author of Pastel.

I'm also reading That Time I was Reincarnated as a Slime Volume 9 of the Light Novel.

And for regular US Fiction I'm reading book 7 of The Beginning After the End. Which is kind of a LitRPG or Wuxia style series. Very anime in tropes and theme.

So what's everyone else reading?

That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime!!!!!! I watched the first episode and LOVED it! How is the novel Greg?

For me, I read any and all mangas. I got into it with Shojo, now more towards Josei. I love action manga, such as Akame Ga Kill, Assassination Classroom and of course Full Metal Alchemist! Gunslinger Girl is so good as well! Pandora Hearts too!

I own waaaayyyy too many mangas hahaa! I have over 400!

For manga, I'm reading One Piece and Natsume's Book of Friends.

For novels, I'm reading Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman.

Manga wise I read Idol Dreams and Cardcaptor Sakura. I'm planning One Peice for sometime soon.

The novels are very different and a lot better. The biggest thing about the anime that irritates me is that the main character is supposed to be a 40 year old man why is he talking like a 15 year old. But that just could be the dub I haven’t watched it subbed.

Wait- hes 40?????? I did not catch that either, sounded and looks much younger! Glad you are enjoying the novels!

message 8: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) I currently have a few mangas on the go, including some on-going ones.

I'm re-reading Bleach for the second time and I'm on the second to last volume so I will finish it this year.
History's Strongest Desciple Kenichi (on volume 38)
Pokemon Adventures (on volume 19)
Detective Conan/Cased Closed (on volume 13)
Special A (on volume 4)
My Hero Academia (on volume 4)

Attact on Titan (about 30 chapters behind)
One Piece (about 30 chapter behind)
Black Butler (up to date)
Noragami (up to date)
Goblin Slayer (up to date)
Berserk (up to date)
Vinland Saga (up to date)
The Promised Neverland (up to date)

As you can see, I have a lot of ongoing manga, so if I start anything new, I try to read ones that are completed.

I just finished Slayers Light Novel 3 and am now going to move on to volume 4. I am continuing to read more Fruits Basket (I've read 4 volumes so far) and I am also reading Martin the Warrior by Brian Jacques. It's the 6th Redwall book. I try to read a couple of them a year around the holidays trying to finish the series.

Martin The Warrior was a good book! I love Redwall, and thats one of the best in the series!

I’m enjoying it but I think the last 2; Salamandastron and Mariel of Redwall were better. I’m almost done with this one.

I am currently reading an enjoyable sci-fi series Planetside. Highly recommended if you're into sci-fi. Also starting Volume 4 of the Slayers light novel series.

message 13: by The Book Dragon (new)

The Book Dragon (restel) | 200 comments I'm working my way through My Love Story , Attack on Titan: Before the Fall , Kaguya-sama: Love Is War , and Dr. Stone but I'm also reading a bunch of series as they release in print. I get most of my stuff from libraries (because I'm poor) so reading stuff is either a drip or a deluge (I'm still waiting on volume 23 of Black Clover but I got the entire series of Attack on Titan: Before the Fall at the same time.)

message 14: by Grace (new)

Grace | 143 comments Attack on Titan : before the fall is so good! way better than attack on Titan in my opinion. haha

Started a new fantasy series, Legends of the First Empire by Michael Sullivan. I enjoyed his Ryria novels and am looking forward to this 6 books series now that he's completed it.

Also reading Slayer Light Novel Volume 4.

message 16: by The Book Dragon (new)

The Book Dragon (restel) | 200 comments I found Minecraft: The Manga.

It’s a series called Cube Arts. There’s only 3 volumes. If you like SAO, you might like this. I’m not sure; I’m only a few pages in, but I’m enjoying it so far. The art is pretty, anyway.

The Book Dragon (restel) | 200 comments Update on Cube Arts: It got dark fast. Here's my review of volume 1 if anyone is interested.

message 20: by The Book Dragon (new)

david Wood | 177 comments decided to start the Witcher books after audible decided to push it heavily with the TV series artwork. I opted for the last wish as it seems to be the starting point of the story but it isn't the 1st book in the series. guess it did a star wars. are there any other series of books that do this?

message 25: by Greg, Slime Knight (new)

Greg | 1117 comments Mod
You'll have to let me know what you think. I did the first 3 Witcher books but just couldn't stick with it. The first 2 books The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny should definitely be read first but they are in fact 2 collections of short stories involving Geralt, the witcher. You won't understand Blood of the Elves much without the back story from the 2 collections. I just could not get into them even after 3 of the 7 books. They were just too dry for me.

I will say that the narrator is pretty good but you're bound to have a chuckle when he pronounces Dandelion.

As for others like it. There are tons of fantasy series that go back and do an entire prequel series. There are also a bunch that are just collections of shorter stories like Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser.

Manga wise, I just finished Paradise Kiss as I got the 20th anniversary edition. I also got the final two volumes of Aria The Masterpiece which I will cry at when its over cause I love it soooooo much! I'm also reading Cinderella Is Dead which is a pretty interesting and somewhat dark take on Cinderella (of course) I am listening to Robopocalypse which is ok, but could be so much more.

message 27: by Greg, Slime Knight (new)

Greg | 1117 comments Mod
I like the little bit of the Aria anime but never finished it or read any of it.

message 28: by david (new)

david Wood | 177 comments Cinderella is dead sounds like it could be very interesting. I'll have to listen out for the dandelion.

message 29: by Justin (new)

Justin (jbradley86) Currently working my way through Tokyo Ghoul I'm on volume 7 and One Piece which I'm up to volume 8, Finally picked up the original Dragon Ball series which I'm looking forwrd to starting soon and have also just started reading Jujutsu Kaisen, Only 3 chapters in to volume 1 but i'm absolutely loving it so far it's such a cool concept.

message 30: by Justin (new)

Justin (jbradley86) Question - how does everyone juggle what they are currently reading with the millions of manga out there that they want to read. Do you try to finish the completed series that your reading before picking up another, wait till the end of story arc or just go for it and read everything you want to lol

message 31: by Jenny, The Odd Otaku (new)

Jenny Clark | 927 comments Mod
I try to read one manga series at a time, until I am done or caught up at any rate. For One Piece, however, I am doing by arcs, and plan to do the same with Naruto and Bleach, and probably a few others I will get into later, if they are realllllyyy long like those.

message 32: by Justin (new)

Justin (jbradley86) That's a really good idea, Thanks. I'm currently reading 3 at the one time and i think that's my limit as starting to get confusing. There are just so many series to read lol I quite like the idea of finishing up an arc before reading another series i think that will also help from getting series burn out as well.

message 33: by david (new)

david Wood | 177 comments I'm a juggler but with manga, us comics, audio books and the Kindle I will often read a chapter of sever different books then swap to another makes my currently reading list look massive and unfocused. but I think it's a part of my dyslexia that makes me like that

message 34: by Grace (new)

Grace | 143 comments lol. I read so many series at one time. it's insane. Luckily I have one of those brains were I can easily separate all the different series and never get confused and rarely forget things.

I'm currently reading like over 20 manga series and way more novel series. lol

message 35: by Greg, Slime Knight (new)

Greg | 1117 comments Mod
When I was younger I would stock pile and buy a bunch of different series at a time. This turned out to be problematic because I would eventually lose interest in reading them at the time and either A) Keep buying them and not reading them. or B) stop buying them and then the later volumes became ridiculously expensive. ( I have a few series mostly complete but the last few volumes I need are anywhere between $75-$300. Shaman King, Great Teacher Onizuka, and Battle Royale are good examples of this.

Now a days it's much nicer because I can just buy volumes as I read them. So I just read until I lose interest. No harm no foul.

I know a lot of people read scanlations and I used to do a lot of that but now that I have at least a little better means and a taste for quality I can't bring myself to read them if there's better quality available.

david wrote: "I'm a juggler but with manga, us comics, audio books and the Kindle I will often read a chapter of sever different books then swap to another makes my currently reading list look massive and unfocu..."

Same I have an Audible book queued up at all times. My audible account is at 545 titles.... So I always have a audio book, a kindle book, and some manga or comic series going at the same time.

As for what I'm reading. I just finished That Time I Was Reincarnated as a Slime Novel #10. I'm finishing book 2 of 6 Legend of the First Empire by Michael Sullivan. I'll be starting book 3 of that and the 5th Slayers novel shortly.

For manga I read Chainsaw Man Volume 3 and will start Kimi ni Todoke 2 soon. For comics I was going through Nick Spencer's Amazing Spider-Man run but haven't picked that up in a couple months.

message 38: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) I generally have between 10 and 15 books on the go. 3-6 of those tend to be manga series , an audiobook or two, a couple of physical books and a few ebooks. It all depends on my mood and what I am doing that decides what I am going to read.
Manga wise, I have a few longer series on the go so if I do fancy picking up anything new, I will try to go for something that is completed and I will try to finish a series before starting something else. That doesn't always work though.

message 39: by Justin (new)

Justin (jbradley86) That's insane how do all your brains hold that much information lol Outside of my current Manga reads i always have an audiobook on the go for when I'm out walking, a kindle book so i can read in bed with the light out when the wife's a sleep and a book that i read to my son at night. Now I'm discovering all the manga series out there that i want to read as well its just figuring out how to manage it lol. This is definitely a good problem to have I'll never struggle with nothing to read.

I have noticed that after about 2 years I have forgotten everything except key points to books I’ve read. It makes me sad...

message 41: by Justin (new)

Justin (jbradley86) I'm completely with you there not sure if its sheer quantity of what i read that cant be retained or just age is setting in lol, The sad thing is i think its the latter

message 44: by Grace (new)

Grace | 143 comments Vagabond is so good! I recently bought the first 2 books and got obsessed with them. so I spent a lot of money (whoops lol) and bought the whole series. I've read the first 3 now. would read more but I'm waiting for the 4th book to arrive. that was the only book they had out of stock and they have to order it in. otherwise all the others are just sitting there staring at me. lol

I just finished reading the first volume of BEASTARS. It was actually pretty good.

message 47: by Justin (new)

Justin (jbradley86) I picked up the first 3 volumes of Beastars a few months back on comiXology but not started them yet. The premise gives me Zootopia/zootropolis for adults vibes.

message 48: by The Manga Kid, Missing Maven (new)

The Manga Kid | 74 comments Mod
Yes! It really reminded me of Zootopia with the carnivore/herbivore premise but, yeah, I would recommend it for adults.
