The purpose of our quest is to accumulate a classroom library of books that reflect the diverse reading interests of our students. For that purpose, we need to include works from different genres in our challenge. Our task to read 40 books by the end of summer begins on January 23, 2015.

Here are some common genres:

Historical Fiction
Mystery & Suspense
Horror
Contemporary Fiction
Classical Fiction
Supernatural
Fantasy
Autobiograhies
Memoirs
Non-Fiction
Science Fiction/Dystopia
Psychological Thrillers
Biography
Realistic Fiction
Steampunk
Postmodern Fiction
Tragedy
Comedy
Graphic Novels

Since you know your audience well, select books in the genres your students would enjoy. Feel free to add genres to our list.

Steps:

1. Select the genres you will use for the reading challenge. (Be diverse - read a few books in each genre)

2. Comment to this post, by making a list of potential reads within each genre. Think of this post as a holding tank for book ideas and reading selections. Add to this list as you uncover new authors and stumble across other works as the year progresses.

3. I will keep track of the participants' progress in post 2#. When you finish a book, message me the title, and I will mark it off your master list.

4. In another folder, I will give each participant a post. This space is designed to track your comments, your book reviews, and your observations about books along the way.

Amber,

Nice List. I think you should add The Memory Painter: A Novel to your list. It comes out in April, but it looks like a reading experience you would appreciate.

It kind of reminds me of your "Love in the Lab" narrative concept:)

Amber | 18 comments Added. It does sound intriguing :). Love how you forget nothing. Still need to finish that crime narrative. You know, in all that spare time that I have ;).
