Sophie went through so much pain in this book-- consequential kind of pain. For betraying and manipulating Agatha and Tedros' hearts.
I felt compassion for her indisputable vulnerability in the last few chapters when her intense desperation to be saved by Agatha only led to denial, constantly rejecting all her reasoning for simply wanting to be accepted and to be loved.
My answer to the first question would be neither, but she's definitely better off as a girl. :D
