Goodreads Developers discussion

The ability to get the word count of a book would be awesome. I recognize this DB probably doesn't exist already, making this a huge lift, but it would be a great long-term push. There are tons of people out there looking for a good app for tracking reading stats like 'words read per minute', and Goodreads seems like the most logical place to have the necessary API for that. Even better would be the ability to get the number of words on a page, or in section of a book (e.g. words in book XXXXX on pages 37-112).

I don't think Goodreads keeps that detailed of data for their word count. I doubt even publishers do. And since Goodreads is maintained by other users, that kind of data would be sparse even if there was an option to include it. In my experience, a lot of the word count on here isn't correct either.

Words read per minute and other similar stats are better suited to an eReader or an external app where u maintain that information. In my opinion, it doesn't match Goodreads' mission.
