annapi | 5502 comments Such a complicated story! Victoria Jones is a rebellious, often violent, orphan, bouncing from one foster home to another. Her story, told in two alternating timelines of her past and present, is tied up in the Victorian language of flowers. None of the characters in this book are wholly likeable, and all are flawed, some very deeply, most of all Victoria herself. There is a touch of magical realism, very faint, in Victoria's success as a florist, but not enough to put off anyone who dislikes magical realism. But it's a beautiful story about relationships and families, and all throughout, the beauty and meaning of flowers. I highly recommend it.
