The longest book on your TBR list.

Oh boy, I don't DO long books! First thing that pops to mind is The Count of Monte Cristo, because I just finished it.

To sort your TBR list, go to My Books > Settings > choose "num pages"

On mine ... I've got Kushiel's Dart at 1015 pages. Is this the year I finally read that? Or is this the year I delete that book from my TBR hahahah

message 2: by Milena (new)

Milena (milenas) | 1198 comments Well that means I have to read War and Peace in 2021. I should just start now.

message 3: by Drakeryn (new)

Drakeryn | 708 comments Okay so I just said in the other topic I don't know page counts for my TBR

But according to Goodreads, Worm by Wildbow clocks in at 6680 pages (it's webfiction) (I've been avoiding it partially due to length LOL) soooo I guess I have my book

It was also recommended to me by my best friend! I will not feel bad about double-dipping this one!

message 4: by Chinook (new)

Chinook | 731 comments I’m contemplating if complete collections count, or just single books. And also if I’m going to have an overarching theme, so it would be my longest TBR book that met the theme.

That's my longest too. OMG it's soooo long! My other options are all series books where I'd have to read some others before I can get to them.

message 6: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie | 1028 comments Chiming in to say I read Kushiel's Dart in high school and... I definitely don't remember it being THAT long!! Might have to do a reread, but it'll probably wait for 2022 at this rate.

message 7: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Lourenço (ssandraa) | 128 comments I think the longest book on my physical TBR is The Hero of Ages, which I already started but only read a few chapters a few months ago.

message 8: by Kels (new)

Kels | 18 comments Mine is Infinite Jest. I better get started now!!

message 9: by Krissy (last edited Dec 01, 2020 09:01AM) (new)

Krissy (krissyreadings) | 2 comments I am only going to choose between my physically owned TBR, so mine would depend on if a bindup of a trilogy counts, which would mean The Josephine B Trilogy, or is 1Q84 is considered one book or a bindup as well, and if those 2 are not considered one book it would be City on Fire

message 10: by Denise (new)

Denise | 374 comments I have 55 books on my TBR list, so I'm going to choose my books now, as is, before I start adding more books this year.

For me, this one is Perdido Street Station by China Mieville, which isn't too bad at 632 pages.

message 11: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Weber | 270 comments Mine is London by Edward Rutherfurd at over 1100 pages. I can't believe it tops Anna Karenina!

message 12: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 91 comments Mine is Les Misérables at 1463 pages...haha oh god

I do have it on audiobook. Maybe I will just listen a little every day?

Anabell | 355 comments Nadine wrote: "Is this the year I finally read that? Or is this the year I delete that book from my TBR hahahah ..."

That was my exact thoughts... How much am I going to delete from my TBR list this year :-)

message 14: by Catie (new)

Catie | 9 comments Mine is also Les Misérables assuming I skip The Norton Anthology of Theory and Criticism, which I think I will since its not a single book. I can't decide if I want a ~60 hour audio book or to read it

message 15: by Audrey (new)

Audrey Marshall | 1 comments Oh dear, I really am going to have to read A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth...all 1504 pages of it!

message 16: by Tara (new)

Tara Nichols (tarajoy90) | 167 comments Shall we form a "I guess I'm finally going to read Les Misérables club/support group"?

message 17: by Kim (new)

Kim (kmyers) | 108 comments Looks like it's Hawaii for me. Since I finally went there this year - my son has lived there for years, and it fulfills the AtY long book prompt, as well as being a famous book set in each state, it works for me!

message 18: by Milena (new)

Milena (milenas) | 1198 comments Audrey wrote: "Oh dear, I really am going to have to read A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth...all 1504 pages of it!"

I remember it being a very easy 1504 pages, if that helps.

message 19: by Mary (new)

Mary Hann | 279 comments This is one of those times that I'm really grateful that I'm so particular about my reading choices. I generally don't add books over 400 pages to my TBR list, so my longest book is only 514 pages, which I'm hoping to finish this year, leaving me with Home Before Dark which is only a little over 400.

message 20: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 91 comments Tara wrote: "Shall we form a "I guess I'm finally going to read Les Misérables club/support group"?"

I love this idea!

message 21: by Meg (new)

Meg | 45 comments Leah wrote: "Mine is probably 11/22/63 at like 850. Not *horrible* I suppose..."

It reads fast and it's good so at least that helps!

message 22: by Anna (new)

Anna (actuallyanna) | 19 comments looks like I'm reading Les Miserables...

message 23: by Anna (new)

Anna (actuallyanna) | 19 comments also yes please to the les mis support group!

message 24: by Knight (new)

Knight (theknightgarden) | 25 comments i got The Priory of the Orange Tree on my tbr so that's gonna be the book i read

it will be a book i read for one month though since it is pretty long.

message 25: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 387 comments Lots of long classics are available on the Serial Reader app, where you are delivered about 15 minutes of reading each day. I’ve used it for War and Peace, The Count of Monte Cristo, Anna Karenina, etc.

message 26: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 901 comments Les Misérables is great for all of you planning to read it. A bit too much sewer talk though!

Only using books I own, mine is Middlemarch if anyone else has that to read

message 27: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 387 comments My longest is Bleak House, which I’ve meant to read for a year or so, this is a good push.

message 28: by Kaitlin (new)

Kaitlin (krwalker) | 2 comments The Way of Kings is the winner on my shelves. I guess I'm starting the Stormlight Archives in 2021.

message 29: by Kaitlin (new)

Kaitlin (krwalker) | 2 comments Leah wrote: "Mine is probably 11/22/63 at like 850. Not *horrible* I suppose..."

It was a super fast read, I finished it in about 3 days.

message 30: by Erica (new)

Erica | 1257 comments Yep +1 for les mis
I have two books that have longer page counts but they are clearly typos. The one book I own and it does not have over 2 million pages. 🤷‍♀️

message 31: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (ladykristianna) | 11 comments I'm thinking either 11/22/63 or The Priory of the Orange Tree for this prompt, both clocking in at 848 pages.

message 32: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie | 1028 comments Thankfully I finished Les Miserables in 2019. Loved it, but I don't think I've ever read a longer book.

My longest is now War and Peace, which I do NOT see happening in 2021. Alas.

message 33: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (tattooed_bookworm) | 23 comments Leah wrote: "Mine is probably 11/22/63 at like 850. Not *horrible* I suppose..."

AMAZING book! You won't be disappointed!

message 34: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (tattooed_bookworm) | 23 comments Is there a way to determine book length just by your TBR list on Goodreads? I don't have a book that immediately sticks out as "longest" or "shortest"...

message 35: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte | 74 comments Mine is going to be The Count of Monte Cristo... this is part of my lifetime list that I've wanted to read and I've found that I like listening to these long classics rather than read the print. There are several different versions on Audible that are all around 50+ hours.

message 36: by Chrissy (last edited Dec 01, 2020 10:26AM) (new)

Chrissy | 387 comments Amanda wrote: "Is there a way to determine book length just by your TBR list on Goodreads? I don't have a book that immediately sticks out as "longest" or "shortest"..."

Yes, you can sort by number of pages once you’ve added that column to your display. That means you may need to edit your My Books tab, look for the settings link at the top of the page.

message 37: by Anabell (new)

Anabell | 355 comments At the moment mine is The Count of Monte Cristo with Hawaii in second place. It will depend on my mood.
If I don't feel like either. I might go for a trilogy maybe lord of the rings. And count as 1 book for this prompt.... or see if I have any other series I would like to read.

message 38: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (kgansor) | 1 comments I have a few books that are older editions that I added to my TBR but knew I would never actually read. Maybe now is the time to move them to a new category and actually clean up my TBR! hahaa

message 39: by Kristy (new)

Kristy Moore (llamalluv) | 81 comments Looks like The Last Hour of Gann for me.

message 41: by Sydney (new)

Sydney (sydneybrooke) | 1 comments I guess it’s finally time to try to tackle Under the Dome...

message 42: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 366 comments Ugh, mine is A Dance with Dragons at 1021. Can I join the Les Mis support group instead?

message 43: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (tattooed_bookworm) | 23 comments Chrissy wrote: "Amanda wrote: "Is there a way to determine book length just by your TBR list on Goodreads? I don't have a book that immediately sticks out as "longest" or "shortest"..."

Yes, you can sort by numbe..."

I DIDN'T KNOW THIS --- THANK YOU!!!!

message 44: by Brandi (new)

Brandi (blkreutz) | 9 comments Goodreads tells me that Outlander is the single book on my list with the largest page count. I’m surprised by this, because it doesn’t seem especially long to me. But, I’ll go with it!

If you enjoy a novel of characterization and little action, I could highly recommend ...And Ladies of the Club which is one of the very first books I read upon getting back into reading as a serious hobby once again (After having raised children, etc.!). I adore this book and after 35+ years I'm due for a reread! :) It's listed as 1433 pages for the edition I own.

message 48: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (sjwthompson) | 36 comments Probably something by Stephen King. I have a bunch of long ones I haven't read yet.

message 49: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 780 comments Ugh, looks like mine is War and Peace, which is what I suspected. I think I’d rather reread Les Mis! 😐

message 50: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ellsworth (sanukipityreads) | 160 comments Outlander books all are pretty big. I hope that Troubled Blood is my longest
