This month instead of reading one book together, let's just share what we're reading throughout the month and what we thought about it. I will also have a few fun discussion threads to just chat with everyone as we wrap up our time together on BooksAndJams Readalong. I hope you will consider joining me over on Patreon as I move the book discussion there. I will, of course, continue to make videos on BookTube as well. So there are still places for us to connect about our favorite hobby...reading!

I'm currently finishing up a couple November reads - The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend and Bread & Wine. I'm also listening to the audio of Woman in White by Wilkie Collins.

I put a ton of Christmas books on hold at two different libraries so I'm hoping to sprinkle in some holiday reads to my other reading this month.

Jamie | 14 comments Currently reading "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue" by VE Schwab and really enjoying the lyrical writing style, so different from her previous works. Also planning on reading some Christmassy and wintry reads this month as well. Picked up the "A Boy Called Christmas" and "The Girl Who Saved Christmas" by Matt Haig this past week at your recommendation, so looking forward to those.

I've heard so much praise for Addie LaRue, but calling the writing lyrical is a warning bell to me! haha. I don't typically get along with books that are too "pretty"! I am eager to check that one out though.
I hope you love the Boy Who Saved Christmas. Such a fun holiday series!

message 5: by Debbi (new)

Debbi Faust I am currently reading The Christmas Wish by Tilly Tennant. I am picking up The Boy Called Christmas and The Girl Who Saved Christmas from my library as soon as they come in. I have a huge stack of Christmas books to read.

Theresa | 57 comments I am just finishing up Thornyhold by Mary Stewart. This is one of my favorites of hers. There is only two of hers I haven't read yet and I will probably finish those in January. I have a lot of reading plans for December, as always, but we will see what I can get to.

Sarah (prairielily) | 26 comments I am finishing up the 52 Books a Year challenge. Those last books I had to search for or kept putting aside.
I am finishing The Lies of Locke Lamora which was put aside, I am really enjoying it. And will read more in the series.
I need to finish Becoming, I read a chapter here and there.
I am planning to read Wuthering Heights once school is out. It shows up on my TBR list every year.
I want to read a Matt Haig Christmas book with my daughters.
And probably more! Not going to take any school work home over the holiday.

message 8: by Susan (new)

Susan I am reading from my shelves
reading back list books, older authors
Reading Seeing Red by Sandra Brown
had this book on my shelf, for a few years now.
just started it, so not sure what it is about.
But just came upon someone shooting at another and running away.
so hopefully will be exciting.

Terri (tee_reads) | 57 comments Currently reading How to Stop Time by Matt Haig. It's really dragging and I intended to finish it last weekend. I do have some Christmas books lined up for December: Holidaze, Last Christmas in Paris, Winter Storms and One Day in December.

Michala | 7 comments I am currently reading My Lovely wife by Samantha Downing and really enjoying it. Also reading The Sun does shine by Anthony Hinton, but just in the beginning of this ❤️

Maybe lyrical is not the right description, but it almost has this dreamlike quality for me. it's very imaginative and descriptive fantasy. It is a slower burn, but very intriguing and has definitely thrown me a few curve balls along the way. I am about 100+ pages from then end (It's over 400 pages!), and have NO IDEA what I think yet or what I would rate it. Have heard it has quite the ending, so I feel like I am still on the edge of my seat, despite the slower pacing. I think you should check it out if you're interested.

Sarah (prairielily) | 26 comments Just finished The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness. Really enjoying this trilogy and have recommended it to my class.

I just finished my second Christmassy book of the year. It was The Lodge on Holly Road by Sheila Roberts. It was such a sweet holiday romance. Maybe too many story lines to really feel connected to any particular characters, but I did enjoy it.

Next I'm SO pumped to pick up Hollowpox by Jessica Townsend! Can't wait for this 3rd book in the Nevermoor series. I absolutely loved the first two!

Theresa | 57 comments I finished Thornyhold by Mary Stewart and started the fourth in a series, A Rule Against Murder by Louise Penny. Also just started The Great Influenza by John M. Barry.

Kim Kantor (kimkantor) | 92 comments I’m reading The Miracle on Ebenezer Street, which is from Lauren and the Books Book Club. Also have Mrs Baumgardner Sends Warm Holiday Greetings (I think that’s it) and Holidaze to read before the end of the year. And finishing up Come Thou, Tortoise (rec from Getting Hygge with it’s April). Christmas prep is interfering with my work plans! Lol. Happiest of Holidays to you, Krista, and all of the other Books and Jams followers. May our next year be an improvement for all of us! 🎄🎅🏽🎉❤️❤️

message 24: by Jennifer (last edited Dec 25, 2020 10:56PM) (new)

Jennifer | 17 comments I have finished two books this month. I have been having trouble focusing on reading and I'm not sure if it is a reading slump (I am in the middle of sone books and I am reading a little bit at a time) or if it is because the book I really want to read doesn't get published until January 12, 2021(not too long to wait and I've pre-ordered the book and it should show up on my Nook on the 12th). Here's what I've read and what I am currently reading at the moment:
The Arctic Fury by Greer Macallister -I finished this book on December 19th and I loved it. I gave it 5 stars.
Ma Rainey's Black Bottom by August Wilson -I finished this on December 20th. This is a play and I read it so I can watch the movie soon. I gave it 5 stars and can't wait to watch the movie.
I am currently reading: The Mystery of Mrs. Christie by Marie Benedict -I pre-ordered this book and it came to me early. I am loving this book. It's making me want to read more of Agatha Christie's books. This is the second Marie Benedict book I have read this year.
I am also in the middle of: The Duke and I Bridgerton by Julia Quinn and No Exit by Taylor Adams -I'm intrigued by this book, but I admit that I'm at a point where I am scared to continue, lol.
I am also in the middle of The Golem and the Jinni (The Golem and the Jinni, #1) by Helene Wecker
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.

Jennifer | 17 comments I don't decorate for Christmas until December but I do read Christmas books until the end of December. I'm reading Christmas Bells by Jennifer Chiaverini very good historical fiction with dual timelines about the story behind the Christmas song I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day.
