A free book from your TBR list. Almost all of my books come from the library, so this is a bit of a Wildcard for me, but that's okay.

Since a TBR list is unique to each reader, I did not create a Listopia for this.

Brandon Harbeke | 698 comments Were books obtained for $0 on Kindle/Project Gutenberg/other source in mind when this prompt was created? They are not exactly any of the three types listed.

message 3: by Dixie (new)

Dixie (dixietenny) My sister gave me Forbidden Area last year and I haven't read it yet, so I'll give it a try. It's by Pat Frank, who wrote Alas, Babylon, an old but still interesting post-apocalyptic novel I read awhile ago.

I think those are just examples. Free is free. I'm probably going to use a free Kindle book I get from the tor.com book giveaways.

I'm thinking YES. Like Drakeryn says, free is free! There's the Tor giveaways, and every year Amazon gives away some ebooks in translation, too. I always download those - because free books! - and then never read them.

Milena (milenas) | 1198 comments There are also the free audiobooks from audiosync that are given away every summer. I still have a bunch from this past summer that I haven't listened to.

Heather (heatherbowman) | 903 comments My mother and I always exchange books on Christmas Eve, and I start the challenge on Christmas Eve because of that tradition. We give each other lists, so any book I could get from her will be on my TBR. I'll use her gift for this prompt.

message 8: by Teri (new)

Teri (teria) | 1554 comments My friend buys lots of books and passes them on to me. I have a stack, so this should be easy.

SadieReadsAgain (sadiestartsagain) | 767 comments I'll need to use the library for some of my picks, so I'll be picking up The Yacoubian Building for this.

message 10: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 127 comments I won't plan for this one yet as I'll be able to use just whatever from my library or scribd :)

message 11: by Erica (new)

Erica | 1257 comments I also predominantly borrow books from the library. I want to keep this a challenge so hopefully I get books for Christmas that I can not read until 2021. Although I have a few books free from the library right now but the John Scalzi book I grabbed without reading the synopsis turned out to be a plague book... so back to hoping for books for Christmas. :)

Ruth Lanton (ruthla8) | 177 comments Since my annual book budget is about $0, this prompt is basically for "a book that doesn't fit into any other prompt). All my books come from the library, or my mom buys for 25 cents a pop (but *I* don't pay for them!). When the library was closed for a few months last year, I went through some of the piles of books already in the house (none of which I personally paid for) and then gave them away on Freecycle and acquired other books from Freecycle. I had a much rougher time finding books for the challenge prompts when I couldn't pick out my own books!

message 13: by Jenni (new)

Jenni (jennigray) | 29 comments The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman is on Project Gutenberg, and I'd highly recommend it. Its less than 50 pages long, so a short read, but its so powerful.

message 14: by Maisha (new)

Maisha Farzana (maishafarzana) | 8 comments My best friend gifted me Layla by Collen Hoover on my birthday. I am definetly going for that one.

message 15: by Heather (new)

Heather (heatherbowman) | 903 comments I received one book for Christmas (as expected) so I counted that book for this category. I think I've bought all the other books on my TBR. I read This Is How You Lose the Time War. I loved it so much! My mother made an excellent choice for her bookish gift this year.

message 16: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth for this one I used
The Carrow Haunt
it was a 2020 Christmas gift from my sister
The Carrow Haunt by Darcy Coates

message 17: by Heather (new)

Heather Addai (heatheraddai) | 11 comments Read The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel for this prompt

message 18: by Jenn (new)

Jenn Neely (jennersmecom) | 50 comments For this prompt I used Evil Thing by Serena Valentino. I borrowed it from the library.

I like this series! They're fun reads from the perspective of the Disney villains.

"In the end, everything isn't always as black-and-white as the markings on a Dalmatian puppy. Even for an evil thing like Cruella De Vil."

message 19: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 782 comments I read Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi for this prompt. I was given a Book Of The Month Club membership last year for my birthday. This was my first selection.

message 20: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 144 comments I'm reading The Snow Child for this prompt as I borrowed it from someone off my local Buy Nothing FB group

message 21: by Laura (new)

Laura (agirlnamedstu) | 24 comments My neighborhood has quite a few Little Free Libraries. I was so excited when I found A Girl from Yamhill in one of them. I grew up reading the Ramona and Henry Huggins books, so this was a treat.

JessicaMHR | 576 comments I've been using Overdrive from my library for most of my books lately, and I get the Kindle free book each month. I also got some books from my sister at Christmas. So, I had a lot of choices for this but, I just used a book that I borrowed on Overdrive... More Myself: A Journey By Alicia Keys.

message 24: by Stina (new)

Stina (stinalyn) | 464 comments I borrowed Sisters of the Vast Black from the library. Nuns in space!

message 26: by Jacqie (new)

Jacqie Ancestral Night by Elizabeth Bear- a Christmas present. It's a great space opera and I highly recommend it to science fiction readers!

message 27: by Marcella (new)

Marcella | 16 comments Saint Joan by George Bernard Shaw

Saint Joan by George Bernard Shaw. There are two Little Free Libraries in the neighborhood and I borrowed it from one. Bonus, its a play so it's quite short.

message 28: by LeahS (new)

LeahS | 491 comments Room by Emma Donoghue. This book is one I thought about reading when it first came out, but was not sure about because of the subject matter. It was offered for free on a neighbourhood WhatsApp group so I took up the offer. A powerful read which will stay with me for a long time.

message 29: by Flora (new)

Flora Smith (bookwormflo) | 56 comments Ashfall (Ashfall, #1) by Mike Mullin borrowed this one from the library. Loved it!!!

message 30: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) For this prompt I finished reading A Pocket Full of Rye by Agatha Christie, gifted to me by a friend 2 Christmases ago.
