Natasha | 2 comments What's the name of the book where this boy is being chased by people in power for his abilities that he doesn't realize that he has. Soon a man (I think his uncle?) Helps him escape. They get in a plane and the teenage boy has to knock his uncle unconscious so the uncle can fly the plane. (I believe the teenager also has a friend along). And the teenager is even more special than the other people with his gift because he doesn't have to be fully asleep to be able to use his gifts/abilities. I think he just has to enter into a sort of meditation like state so he can use his conscious mind to unlock his abilities. I think I remember at the beginning of the book that he wakes up walking on a wire (sort of like a tight rope, may have been a telephone wire).

Natasha | 2 comments oh, and it was published at least more than 8 years ago. But it was based in our society, so at least past the 80's. probably more like the 1990's to the early 2000's

Natasha, what can the boy do with his mind? Is this a spoiler? (What's revealed early in the book?)

Would you say this YA (teen) book is a thriller, fantasy, science fiction, mystery?

Did you read this book around 2012?

Ayshe's suggestion sounds right. Here's the Google Books preview of Dormia by Jake Halpern:

https://books.google.com/books?id=oZc...

[Hill says:] "Hit me over the head with that wrench - you need to knock me out. I really shouldn't take off in this plane in these conditions, if I'm awake, and I'm not feeling sleepy after that coffee." ... brought it down on his uncle's head. | Hill piloted the plane and snored peacefully for about an hour until, rather abruptly, he woke up and gingerly rubbed his head.
