If you are willing to place one of your February reading choices in the hands of another person, leave a comment here with at least five books and no more than ten from your TBR shelf. Participants need to leave comments no later than January 25th.

Here's how it will work:
Sophia will match people up and leave a comment with a list of who will choose for whom.
When you see the person you are to pick for, then just look at their list in the above comments and leave a new comment with their name and the book you chose for them by January 31st.

You also need to watch and see what book your person chose from your list for you.
You have the rest of the month to read the book.

So if this sounds like something you would like to do, just comment below leaving your name and list of book choices for someone to pick your February book.

Sam H. | 543 comments Sorry, I read the instructions above, but I still don't get how it works. Please help?!?

message 21: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) It’s fun—
* you leave a list here of 5-10 Austenesque books you’d like to read.
* in a few days, Sophia will post here a list pairing up names. Find your name in the left-hand column and follow the arrow to the name of the person you’re picking for: for example, Sam ===> Abigail
* look for that person’s list of books in this thread, and choose a book you would like that person to read. Post your choice.
* someone else will have been chosen to suggest a book from your list for you to read. Read that book, and then come back to this thread and let us all know how you liked it!

Shifra ♕ (shifra98) | 24 comments What a nifty scheme! It will befit the dichotomy of my person; like Bingley I love when hard choices are made for me, and yet like Lady Catherine I enjoy to give unsolicited advice. This will suit me well!

1.The Falmouth Connection: A Pride and Prejudice Variation
by Joana Starnes
2.This Disconcerting Happiness: A Pride and Prejudice Variation
by Christina Morland
3.Being Mrs Darcy: A Pride & Prejudice Variation
by Lucy Marin
4.The Mistress of All: A Pride and Prejudice Variation
by Lory Lilian
5.When We Are Married: A Pride and Prejudice Variation
by Caitlin Williams
6.Taken: A Pride & Prejudice Variation
by Mary Anne Mushatt

Yours in anticipation,
Shifra

Sophia (sophiarose) | 804 comments Mod
Howdy, everyone! I'm so glad you could join our first 'someone else pick it' for the year.

I have randomly drawn names from those who submitted a list of books and will put those just below.

For those who are new to this fun activity, here is what you do next:
1. Find your name in the left hand column and then go to the right hand column to see whose name you drew.
2. Go back up in the discussion thread and find that person's list. Choose a book from that list. And, then make a comment to that person of what book you chose for them. Do this by JANUARY 31st, please.
3. Watch for the person who drew your name to post their pick from your booklist.
4. Start your books on or after February 1st and feel free to come back and leave a comment of what you thought of the book. If you want to discuss as you're reading, you can comment on your impressions as you go. Just make sure to mark any spoilery comments at the beginning of your comment.

The List from the drawing:
Michelle > Shifra
Abigail > Sam
abmom > wosedwew
Christina > Mary
Patricia > Lenora
Kirk > Michelle
Sophia > abmom
Lenora > Abigail
Shifra > Sophia
Sam > Kirk
wosedwew > Christina
Mary > Patricia

Enjoy your February reading, everyone!
Oh, and if you have a question or are confused, no worries, just ask.

Howdy, abmom!

Phew! You have more than one I've heard great things about so it was a tough pick.
But, Silver Buckles keeps drawing my eye from your list so I chose that one for you.
Crossing my fingers it is a good one.

message 31: by Christina (new)

Christina Morland | 83 comments Mary, all of your choices look really good. I've heard such great things about Fallen; I enjoyed Peneaux's earlier book; I've long been wanting read something by Kelly Miller; and I just read Debbie, Sheila, and Rose's glowing reviews of C. Lodge's Lover's Meeting. So, this is a really tough choice!

Since I'm so torn and such a bad decision maker, I put the numbers 1-5 in a random number generator and it told me... #2! That's Fallen on your list. Enjoy!

message 32: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Hi, Sam! I haven’t read any of the books on your list so I have to go by reputation. I know both Fallen and All That This Entails have received a lot of praise. For sheer fantasy-wish-fulfillment potential I’ll pick for you All That This Entails. Hope you enjoy it!

Bon appetit,
Shifra

message 37: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 543 comments Kirk, you have totally stumped me. Have not heard of any of those. I will do research tomorrow and back to you with my pick.

Great, thanks! Persuasion is my 3rd favorite (not a fan of the Captain...*ducks*) but I do love a modern Persuasion. I thought the Holidays w Jane gang did an especially good job with the concept. The Halloween one, I think in the book Holidays w Jane Tricks or Sweet, was quite memorable.

message 46: by MichelleH (last edited Jan 27, 2021 01:43PM) (new)

MichelleH H | 148 comments Shifra, Oh boy this is tough...so many great ones on your list! And so many favorite authors. I decided to pick The Falmouth Connection, by Joana Starnes because it's the oldest one on your list. And yes. Favorite author, favorite book.

How's that for logic. I had to come up with some criteria. I hope you get the chance to read them ALL sometime soon.

Thanks for the 'thumbs up' on Mark Brownlow, much appreciated.

Shifra ♕ (shifra98) | 24 comments I am much obliged Michelle,
I have only read two of Joana Starnes other works, but I loved them both dearly and I suspect this one I shall too.
And yes, I do intend to read them all! I have been working my way through JAFF (at an alarming speed) since November when I first got addict- ehem, I mean interested in the genre.
