You're on to something there.

Jean-Louis Van Belle - Pierre Jean Niebes: Vivre à Mons aux XVII et XVII siècles.

It's very in the vein of things like Event Horizon, Aliens, The Thing, at least one episode of every scifi show ever, where there's a remote research station where Bad Things Happened and a new crew investigating and getting into Trouble. I can't say it was breaking the mold on any of the tropes associated with that idea, but it's an idea that I am a HUGE sucker for, so I really enjoyed it.
