I drew the letter P :/
but I can fit this into Trim, I guess... I own it so anytime, Dee :)
But, I have one scheduled for Jan with Coralie already (a LOST book). I haven't got dates yet but it's a short book (less than 200p) so shouldn't take long.

Omogosh! I looked at this and gasped at the number of pages (848). I don't think I can handle it right now.

Not right now, Susan... January :)

LOL! That seems like "right now" to me in terms of deciding about books to take on. There are so many challenges starting Jan 1 that I feel like I have dozens ready to go that day.

That is true... funny thing is that I've planned by PAS challenges to death but I still feel like I haven't decided on what to read in January - it just feels too far away from me. It may have to do with me only being half way through Rhythm of War (1,200 pages) and it's due in a couple of days at the library. I can't, of course, renew, what with so many queueing for the book *sighs*. I won't be sleeping these next couple of days lol
My monstrosity book for Trim that TBR is Seveneves, by Neal Stephenson. Anyone interested in a buddy-read for that? It wouldn't have to be right away.

OK, I'm a sucker for buddy reads. I'm not promising anything, but I've requested this from the library, and will see what I think after I thumb through it. Unfortunately, it wouldn't count for Trim that TBR for me, because it hasn't made its way to my TBR yet.

I'm #3 on hold with 14 books owned, so I may or may not get it in time to read in January. If you find someone to read with, you should start without me.

Maria,
The idea of "mathematical dragons" looks intriguing. But after doing the The Priory of the Orange Tree this month, I don't think I'll be up for more dragons right away. If you end up not finding anyone soon, and want to try it in a couple months, I might be game for it then.

I've got full commitments for the next month, Maria, but if you'd like to wait to around mid Feb, I think I should be able to do it with you :)

Please correct me if I’m wrong!

you don't have to do it as a buddy read, only if you want to. If you read the task carefully, the book just have to be found on a PAS member's bookshelf.
And also, it doesn't have to be done in January. The tasks are set for the month but it's up to you when you want/can complete it :)
We're very flexible here ;)

I didn't realise this! Haha, I just finished January. I might make it a personal goal to finish within a month if I can.

Probably best or you may struggle with the other months' tasks ;)

When are you thinking of reading it, Lusie? After the first of the year?
Currently it is checked out in my local library.
Currently it is checked out in my local library.

Lusie, I did check the GA library system. They have lots of copies so getting one should not be an issue. I am willing to read it with you (Yikes 1200+ pages!), but I would prefer to wait until after the new year as I am trying hard to finish up several annual challenges this month.

Good luck finishing up challenges!
Lusie, do you want to create the thread for this book in the Buddy Reads folder or should I? Do you own the book? If so, perhaps you can figure out the reading schedule. I will see if I can get a copy next week so starting after the first of the year would work.

I made a thread for us

Thanks.

btw I changed my username here (it used to be Lusie)

I reserved it at the library (Tien did as well). And still waiting to get the book.
When would you be able to read it then, Bea?

It is being catalogued right now in a sister library. I don't know if there are other pre-existing holds or rules about length of wait before sharing with other libraries. I will try to find out in the next few days.
EDIT: My library account shows that I am #1 once the cataloging is done! I am still not sure how long that will take.

I checked today and it still says that I am #1 on the list and that my request is pending. Don't wait on me as it may be a bit. If possible to get it soon, I will catch up.
EDIT: I called the library that owns the book. They are hoping it will be available in the next week but weren't sure. So go ahead. If it comes soon, I will be reading quickly. If not, I may have to pass.
