To be encouraged to enter into more discussion is a good idea. I seem to do well when involved in a read a long, buddy reads and other encouragements to enhance the experience.
This would be a way to have more connection with each other as Alwynne points out.
I found it hard to find books in translation which were written recently. Some direction there would be good. I especially enjoyed Lizzy’s trip around Germany during German Lit. Month in November. I found the connections made between, authors, titles and areas in Germany enlightening. That sort of guidance would be very welcome.
Overall whatever is decided is the way to go. So glad you are taking this on Lizzy. Thanks

It may also make sense to say in the introduction that the group is a yearly effort and that past efforts can be found in the forum. :)

I’d love to reorganise with subfolders, but goodreads isn’t that flexible. I could rename the existing ones but the urls then change, and folk might lose sight of their previous content. Same happens if I rename the group. Which is why I haven’t done it. If we want to continue next year, I’ll probably start a new group with a folder structure that allows things to continue indefinitely without ongoing maintenance. In the meantime, I will refresh the intro text though.
I’ve volunteered to wear the hostess mantel for next year, having enjoyed 2020’s group so much. (Many thanks to Britta and Mel for that.) Plus lockdown seems to be stretching interminably here in the UK, I need a project to stop me dwelling on it.
The question is how do you want to do this?
Would you like to start afresh or shall I just rename the group to Reading German Books and tidy up the folders a bit so that we can continue forever if we are so inclined?
Do you want to repeat the mountain challenge again next year?
What other ideas would you like to incorporate into the group?
Personally I’d like to see more book discussion, so I’ll probably set up some folders for discussion by genre or something along those lines.
What other things would you like to see included in the group?
Please let me know by responding in either English or German.
