You could easily double this challenge with the mythology since there are already a few titles that work well for both. But here are some other ideas if you wanted to keep them separate.

The Round House - Louise Erdrich
There There - Tommy Orange
Heart Berries: A Memoir - Terese Marie Mailhot
The Marrow Thieves - Cherie Dimaline
Indian No More - Charlene Willing with Traci Sorell (Middle Grade)

Christine (christinerobyn) | 1 comments I read The Only Good Indians. I gave it 3 stars. Totally different horror than I'm used to and great premise. I found dialogue a bit clunky. A lot of "...he said....she said." I really enjoyed the perspective though. Looking forward to reading more of Jones' works.

PsychedandLit Elatsoe, by Darcie Little Badger

Nikki (mnnikki) | 164 comments I read Fatty Legs: A True Story for this prompt. We started BYL5 in the fall so there were plenty in the curriculum to select but I'm happy I read this one as well. It's not easy reading about residential schools but it is important to understand more of the real history.

Brittany (brittburkard) | 66 comments I read My Heart Is a Chainsaw for this one. I'm not really a fan of slashers, nothing against them, just not what I gravitate to. BUT, this book made me want to give them another chance, fast-paced and wild. Maybe I like slasher BOOKS. But I for sure enjoyed this author's work, I'd never read any of it before and I'd love to try some more out.
