Orgeluse | 481 comments Great! I am looking forward to this challenge and to the exchange as there are already books familiar to me on your list and some that are on my list, too.

Carolien (carolien_s) | 524 comments This is a very nice list, Wim. I adore The Map of Love. I am planning on reading I do not come to you by chance in 2021 as well.

Thank you Carolien and Orgeluse.

Just finished number 21 De purs hommes by the young Senegalese author Mohamed Mbougar Sarr. A great novel on the difficult topic of homophobia, glad I read this one (here is my short review).

Carolien (carolien_s) | 524 comments I look at your choices and realise I need to really consider dusting off my French and try reading some of these interesting books.

What did you think of it? I still want to read it later this year.

I really loved this novel, Carolien. It is funny, original and tragic at the same time.

I am supposed to read number 16 in October (Of Water and the Spirit: Ritual, Magic, and Initiation in the Life of an African Shaman) but I won't have access to my copy before November...

So I decided to read another book on Burkina Faso instead and that will be Manger le pouvoir au Burkina Faso: La noblesse mossi à l'épreuve de l'Histoire.

I did not have lots of time to read the past weeks and it took me until the last day of the month to finish my October read Manger le pouvoir au Burkina Faso: La noblesse mossi à l'épreuve de l'Histoire by Benoit Beucher. I did enjoy this great book on the history of the Mossi aristocracy in Burkina Faso (short review here).

Carolien (carolien_s) | 524 comments This looks interesting, Wim.

Orgeluse | 481 comments Thanks for your review!!
We are all positively spoiled by our group read of A Fistful of Shells: West Africa from the Rise of the Slave Trade to the Age of Revolution that definitely raised the bar high for all other history books on West Africa to be read in future :)))

Finished my November read, Noo Saro-Wiwa's Looking for Transwonderland: Travels in Nigeria (short review here.

It is also my number 36 of the 50 books by African women everyone should read. This TBR challenge has allowed me to progress steadily on that list!

And finished this year's TBR list: I really enjoyed my last read, Pour L'afrique, J'accuse: Le Journal D'un Agronome Au Sahel En Voie De Destruction, here is my review.

Still a couple of days left before starting the Jan reads, I offered myself a relaxing read: Who Fears Death by Nnedi Okorafor.
