Barb has selected our books for February.

Theme - MC over 40
Bless Her Dead Little Heart
This is available at my library in print form and is offered through overdrive,

Penguins and Mortal Peril
This is available on Kindle Unlimited. Also on KU are bundles of books 1-5 and books 1-10. There's a prequel - check the book's thread.

I've selected our books for May.

The first book is Swift Justice and the theme is job related since Charlie is a PI. I found it available at my library.

The second book is Murder Passes the Buck. I found it available on overdrive and on KU.

Thanks! I have Murder Passes the Buck on my Kindle but I will see if I can get print at library along with Swift Justice (which for some reason I don't have)

Cheryl - You should read the book in any format you are comfortable with. I sometimes try to let members know what formats I have found, hoping if I have access they will too.

Shelly | 106 comments Hi Jaxnsmom, I would like to know more about picking the July 2021 books. How can I know what’s been read already? Any help would be appreciated and then I will decide if I’m able to do this.
Thank you

Shelly - It's easy. Click on the Bookshelf link in the upper right corner. It's below the group icon. There is a shelf called "group selections" where previously featured series are listed.

fyi - You can pick a series we've featured before if it was a few years ago and new books have been published.

Shelly | 106 comments I’ll sign up for July. I’ll put the picks here tomorrow.

message 9: by Shelly (last edited Jun 20, 2021 08:15PM) (new)

Shelly | 106 comments I’ll take the category: The Arts
My First choice will be The Aurora Anderson Mysteries:
Fatal Brushstroke (Aurora Anderson Mystery #1) by Sybil Johnson Paint the Town Dead (Aurora Anderson Mystery #2) by Sybil Johnson A Palette for Murder (Aurora Anderson Mystery #3) by Sybil Johnson Designed For Haunting (An Aurora Anderson Mystery Book 4) by Sybil Johnson Ghosts of Painting Past (Aurora Anderson, #5) by Sybil Johnson
They are available on Amazon in print and kindle and I believe audio, also.

I’m still lookin for a second choice. Does it need to be in the same category?

Shelly - The second series is member's choice. It does not have to fit a theme.

Shelly | 106 comments My Second Choice is Cindy Bell series Little Leaf Creek Cozy Mystery
Chaos in Little Leaf Creek (Little Leaf Creek, #1) by Cindy Bell Peril in Little Leaf Creek (Little Leaf Creek, #2) by Cindy Bell Conflict in Little Leaf Creek (Little Leaf Creek #3) by Cindy Bell Action in Little Leaf Creek (Little Leaf Creek #4) by Cindy Bell Vengeance in Little Leaf Creek (A Little Leaf Creek Cozy Mystery #5) by Cindy Bell Greed in Little Leaf Creek (Little Leaf Creek #6) by Cindy Bell Surprises In Little Leaf Creek (Little Leaf Creek #7) by Cindy Bell

There are a few more however, I’m not sure they’ve released.
I have been wanting to read this series. I have read other Cindy Bell series’s and enjoy the light approach to cozies once in awhile.
These are available on Amazon in both paperback and kindle. They do not seem to be available on audio.

For November:

Booked 4 Murder is available on KU, or you can buy the KU version for $1.99. My library offers it through hoopla and overdrive, and it's available in paperback.

Death by Dumpling is expensive on amazon at $8.99. My library offers it through overdrive and in paperback.

message 22: by Helen (new)

Helen (helennn) | 1020 comments Sorry, Jaxnsmom, I don’t often read the monthly selections. One reason is the huge pile of real and ebooks I have waiting to be read. The other is the ridiculous price of books in Australia. Both this month’s selections are $9 each for the kindle version here, more than I’m prepared to pay.
Our libraries rarely stock American cozies, so that isn’t an option either.
I’ll go back to the monthly and seasonal challenges, where I can nominate books I already have.

Sorry about that Helen. I thought it had gotten a little better to get books there.

Do you need someone to volunteer to choose books for December? I had a turn earlier this year, but can jump in if you need help.

message 25: by Cheryl A. (new)

Cheryl A. (teddi1961) I did the October pick but am willing to pick for December; I put the Christmas Cozy Mystery series I found to reply to Alice here:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/.... It is getting holiday time and I believe we need to get the theme and books picked and set up. I will be limiting all social media during the holidays so I will not be able to pick for January '22.

When I posted in this thread a few days ago, I also PMd Jaxnsmom, asking her the same question and making a couple of series suggestions in case she wanted to make a quick decision. I see that those series are on the group's main page as December's reads, but I haven't seen an announcement about it.

Meg Langslow series, by Donna Andrews
first book : Murder with Peacocks

Ginger Gold series, by Lee Strauss
first book : Murder on the SS Rosa
