Mercy Kill by Aaron Allston is the last X-Wing book, but stands alone with FoTJ, being years later. It helps to read the others, but you may be able to read w/o reading any other X-Wing books. You will understand it better with reading the other books, though. Would this work? Let me know if not, and I can change it.
I'd like to nominate
Labyrinth of Evil by James Luceno
"The war that erupted in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones is nearing its boiling point, as the dauntless Separatist forces continue their assault on the teetering Republic-and the diabolical triumvirate of Count Dooku, General Grievous, and their Master, Darth Sidious, fine-tune their strategy for conquest. In Episode III Revenge of the Sith the fates of key players on both sides of the conflict will be sealed. But first, crucial events that pave the way to that time of reckoning unfold in a labyrinth of evil. . . .
Capturing Trade Federation Viceroy-and Separatist Councilmember-Nute Gunray is the mission that brings Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, with a squad of clones in tow, to Neimoidia. But the treacherous ally of the Sith proves as slippery as ever, evading his Jedi pursuers even as they narrowly avoid deadly disaster. Still, their daring efforts yield an unexpected prize: a unique holotransceiver that bears intelligence capable of leading the Republic forces to their ultimate quarry, the ever-elusive Darth Sidious."

Hard Contact by Karen Traviss
This is the first book in Karen Travis's Republic Commando series.
"As the Clone Wars rage, victory or defeat lies in the hands of elite squads that take on the toughest assignments in the galaxy–stone-cold soldiers who go where no one else would, to do what no one else could. . . .
On a mission to sabotage a chemical weapon research facility on a Separatist-held planet, four clone troopers operate under the very noses of their enemies. The commandos are outnumbered and outgunned, deep behind enemy lines with no backup–and working with strangers instead of trusted teammates. Matters don’t improve when Darman, the squad’s demolitions expert, gets separated from the others during planetfall. Even Darman’s apparent good luck in meeting an inexperienced Padawan vanishes once Etain admits to her woeful inexperience.
For the separated clone commandos and stranded Jedi, a long, dangerous journey lies ahead, through hostile territory brimming with Trandoshan slavers, Separatists, and suspicious natives. A single misstep could mean discovery . . . and death. It’s a virtual suicide mission for anyone–anyone except Republic Commandos."
This synopsis is the one that is on Goodreads for the book.

Hard Contact by Karen Traviss"
I was considering nominating this book, too. So I guess I'll 'second' the nomination. : )
Because the February Group read ended in a tie, the book that hasn't been chosen for the GR will be automatically nominated for the next month Group Read:
Rogue Squadron by Michael A. Stackpole
Rogue Squadron by Michael A. Stackpole

Even with Rogue Squadron we didn't reach the number of 5 nominees.
So per rules ("If there is fewer than 5 nominations mods can nominate additional books.") mods decided to nominate
Vector Prime by R.A. Salvatore (Star Wars: The New Jedi Order #1)

Yep, the poll is there. As of now, Rogue Squadron is running away with the votes. Nice.

Ah yes, this. So many books to read, so little time. And because I'm such a good friend and team player I changed my vote to Rogue Squadron. : )
The poll is over and Rogue Squadron by Michael A. Stackpole won by a landslide.
The March Group Read starts on March, 1st. Everybody is welcome to join us in our GR Discussion thread here.
