Let's also work together in getting up to date in our series! It's as big a deal as completing one. We will lower our goal to 150.

Here's how it works.

1. You can find the challenge here or on our group home page.
2. After selecting the challenge, complete the information requested, including the number of series where you plan to get up to date in 2021 (it says books here but for this challenge, think series). Where it asks for a shelf name, type in your profile name. Save the information.
3. Go to your shelf and edit "bookshelves." Type in "150 utd" (without the quotes) and then select "Add." This will be the shelf you'll use to track your progress (more to come). You can select another name for your shelf if you prefer.
4. Return to the group home page and select "update my entry" and add the shelf name exactly as follows: 150-utd (or, whatever shelf name you created) but remember to use all lowercase.
5. Click "Save."
6. You've now entered the challenge!

Now, how do you track your series progress?
Whenever you read the last book in a series that you now consider up to date, add that book to your 150-utd shelf (or other shelf name you created). It will be included in the challenge results.

If the series appears to be complete (last book released some time ago, the story feels final, no word from the author about continuing the series, etc.), consider it complete. Otherwise, if there's some doubt, mark it up to date.

Last year, a few I'd tagged as up to date ended up being finished and vice versa. No need to change a previous year but if things change in the current year, you can always adjust.

I've also used the GR "Ask the Author" feature with some success.

(If an author of one of your series releases another book during the year and you don't read the new book by December 31, 2021, you'll need to remove the last book you read from the 150 utd shelf.)

We hope everyone will join again!

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 2090 comments Jonetta I have a question about Targeted. I marked that as the end of a series, as indicated in Goodreads. Now that we are reading Columbia River, I'm not sure. Is Columbia River a spin-off or a continuation?

Kendra Elliot has a habit of connecting her series by character. Here’s the link to the series list for Callahan & McLane where they appear to be listed. When in doubt, check the series list.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 2090 comments Interesting. Is this a recent change? I thought I checked before I added Targeted to my completed series list. Or it could be one of those senior moments.

message 16: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 2090 comments Never mind. I just checked Kendra's website; it agrees with goodreads. I don't know what I checked. Updated my completed list.

Sharon, it’s quite possible that it was added after you started the series. When readers begin the new series, they make the decision as to whether it’s more than simple character mentions or crossovers. It happens a lot with Elliot.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 2090 comments This is a hard one to complete--I continually start new series.

message 19: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 3257 comments Same here Sharon. But then I thinkill have some for 2022

message 20: by Laura (new)

Laura This is hard for me because I usually start series when the books are all out.

I prefer to do that myself, but I do start some because of challenges or reviews that spark my interest.

message 22: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 3257 comments I had that problem with completed series.
Some just never seem to stop. Trust me I know nI have a series that is 99 strong.

Some authors say it's the last and then oops here's another a few years later. That is the one challenge I said I'm not trying agon. Too much stress.

message 23: by Laura (new)

Laura 99? Yikes! I’ll only start if I know the series is different couple each book. If same couple and cliffys I always wait. I read so much I can’t remember.

message 24: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 3257 comments That series I mentioned started off as standalones. But they somehow became a series. In a good way. Some of the books was revisit and catch up of previous characters. It actaully wasn't bad. I loved the people and wanted to know it. The time line was screwy but the author always said overlaps will happen.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 2090 comments WOW! 99 is a lot unless it is a series like In Death where each book has an ending, but the characters continue. I hope Eve and Roarke go on for a lot more years.

I started a series several years ago that turned into sixteen books when I quit. They were a series of novellas that she charged paperback prices for ebooks. I can't even remember the author or the name of the series at the moment. I was so angry when the next book was released and there still wasn't an ending in sight; I wiped it from my mind. LOL

message 26: by Laura (new)

Laura I hate when they tack on novellas at the end. I have a few series like that and I’m dragging my feet.

message 27: by Phrynne (new)

Phrynne Just updated this and I have managed to bring 24 series up to date this year which exceeds my target of 20. I am happy with that:)
