Elisa_Bookaholic (book-queen) What is your 2021 Reading Goal? And do you have any series/books you really need to read in that year? And is there any new releases you know about that you can't wait for?

Anything else about what you are planning for you 2021 reading year?

My 2021 reading goal hasn't been decided yet though I am desperately waiting for sequels of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, such a wonderful series it is! Also for the 3rd book The Heart Principle which is also a part of series....and for Devil in Disguise which is a part of yet again, a series The Ravenels.

message 3: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauralikeslit7) I just want to read around 45 books since I know I'll be busy lol

Elisa_Bookaholic (book-queen) Awesome! I am thinking Imma gonna put my goal at 130-150. Something like that.

message 5: by Stacey B (new)

Stacey B Hi. I just joined this group a few minutes ago.
Not sure about my goal for 2021
Im thinking the reason I hit my goal this year was due to the lockdown.
Is anyone thinking the same thing?

message 6: by eli ♡ (new)

eli ♡ I haven't decided how many books I want to read next year, but at least 100 books or more. I got started on gr in April I think, so I didn't have as much time. I think for next year I really want to read
-Thirteen Doorways, Wolves Behind Them All
-The Thousandth Floor
-Rage
-The Great Influenza: The Story of the Deadliest Pandemic in History
-Deadliest Enemy: Our War Against Killer Germs

Oh definitely why I hit mine when I only started actually using this account sometime in July? That's how I read 100 books within that little time zone.

My goal is to read 40-50 books in 2021. I wish I could read more, but I have a lot of schoolwork and other things to do.
But hopefully I can exceed 50 next year!

message 10: by Erica (new)

Erica | 1309 comments I'll probably set my goodreads goal at 150 and up it if need be. I do the popsugar reading challenge and that's 50 prompts, plus I'm doing 2017s which is another 52. If it's too hard I'll use books for multiple prompts. I count picture books, novellas and graphic novels for my books read. My list for books I want to read next year is at about 80 right now, there's no way I'll read everything I have planned.

message 11: by Subhoshri (new)

Subhoshri (lectricedenuit) I haven't finalised yet but I will increase my book goal to 120 this year.
And I'm soo excited for the sequel of Chain of Gold!!!!!

message 12: by Scarlett (new)

Scarlett Forster (sf-forevermore) I want to try and read 50 this year, just because I know ill be busyier (hopefully things are a bit more normal) Im going to read the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series, the The Maze Runner series, and the The Red Pyramid (kane chronicals) series. Im super excited. I did also start Twilight but in my opnion its kinda awful lol.

message 13: by Akanksha (new)

Akanksha | 1 comments I am planning on reading 30 books next year. I did the reading challenge for the first time in 2020 with 25 books. I am kinda new to good reads, so looking forward to a reading community.

For this year, I have a few categories picked up. I am more interested in non-fiction than fiction. I want to read books on art history, indian history, and photography. And I also enjoy an occasional fiction, but that list is not so extensive.

I am really really really excited about 2021 and want to read more and more books that interest me.

Hey! Welcome. Since you are new, it's my advise you go through the topics of the group and you can participate in challenges and BOTM discussion of this group. You can find these in respective folders.
Feel free to ask anything!

message 16: by Fabitha (last edited Dec 28, 2020 02:43AM) (new)

Fabitha (fabitha89) | 575 comments I know I have a tough year ahead of me. This year I was able to read a lot due to an injured back that forced me to stay put (I love reading ovb, but I doubt I'd been reading that much if I had to also work and practice, which was impossible for me this year) so I'm not setting reading goals for 2021.

I already have a lot of goals in other parts of my life and I mean A LOT - my anxious heart is already in turmoil.
I'll just read on and see what happens.

Still, I'd like to tackle my TBR starting from the ones I marked as "must": some examples are Remote Control. Girl, Woman, Other, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, A Fistful of Shells: West Africa from the Rise of the Slave Trade to the Age of Revolution.
I'd also like to read Six of Crows, finish the trilogy I started with Before She Ignites and start the one with Stolen Songbird

Oh my, it's quite packed already buahahah

Edit: @Scarlet I think Twilight used to be famous -and it still is - because when it came out there was basically almost no other YA (at least in Italy, I was freshly out of HP saga and that was the next big thing) but I think now the genre has vastly outgrown it. Thankfully.

message 17: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 15 comments I’m going to aim for about 60 books in 2021 whilst having no idea even roughly how many books I’ll actually finish. This year is a complete anomaly but I’ve only begun reading as an actual hobby this year and the part of the world I’m in is starting the new year in lockdown as well... I am participating in some reading challenges for the first time though, so I do know for sure that I’ll read some good books next year :)

message 18: by Erin (new)

Erin i'm aiming for like 150 books? i know it sounds super ambitious but I'm hoping I can do it *crosses fingers*

what am I planning to read? too much. probably most of the books on my tbr and the other books I find and put on my tbr

message 19: by Bumble (new)

Bumble Greenbriar (hernameiscrumpet) im going to try and fit 52 books in. that’s 1 a week, which is ambitious but hopefully doable.

message 20: by Shawna (new)

Shawna Finnigan (sugoishawn) | 945 comments My goal is to read 52 books in 2021, to finish The Mortal Instruments series, to buy less books each month than what I read, and to read more nonfiction books :)

message 21: by Imogen (new)

Imogen Reeves (purplegems3) | 8 comments My 2021 Reading Goal is 10 books & I would go for something more ambitious but I'm using that as a starting point as I don't know where 2021 will lead me.

I'm hoping some of it include City of Glass, Clockwork Angel, Outlander & the books I am currently reading (Eclipsed: Turns out that Spider-Man does have a dad afterall & The Memiors of SherlockHolmes: Sherlock Holmes #5) as well.

I can't wait for the release of The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna

message 22: by Elisa_Bookaholic (new)

Elisa_Bookaholic (book-queen) Okay, well I got most of what I want to read ready.....plus whatever I find...

Booktastically Amazing (booktasticallyamazing) | 130 comments I just have three reading goals as of now:

1. Stay alive, so I can read more books.
2. Try NOT to read five crappy books in a row. Because the temptation is so GREAT to read a book I know I won’t like, my brain is precious,
3. GET AN ARC FOR GOODNESS SAKE. *clearing throat* yes, I think that’s all.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 382 comments My goal is to just keep reading. I've set my GR 2021 Reading Challenge goal to 20. Ever since getting tinnitus it has been so hard for me to read, plus my injuries that caused the tinnitus made it hard for me to hold books for long periods of time. Secretly I want to hit 100, but I'm not going to put that kind of pressure on.

I really want to read certain series this year.
Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas Some Girls Bite (Chicagoland Vampires, #1) by Chloe Neill Three Mages and a Margarita (The Guild Codex Spellbound, #1) by Annette Marie Keeper of the Lost Cities (Keeper of the Lost Cities, #1) by Shannon Messenger Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews (Any thing by Ilona and most of it will be a reread.)
I'm also thinking of trying to read Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer again.

There's more, but I'll stop.

message 33: by Erica (new)

Erica | 1309 comments Ooh please tell me Shera that you follow IA's blog.
Also I love the Cadogen Vamps!

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 382 comments You bet'cha I follow the IA blog!!!

Yes!!! I feel bad I'm behind on some of the newer releases.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 382 comments They definitely have on of the best author blogs out there.

I miss Richelle Mead's blog. I use to faithfully follow until she quit.

Erica | 1309 comments Oh that's too bad. You're reminding me that I have to finish her Vampire Academy spin off series.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 382 comments Erica wrote: "Oh that's too bad. You're reminding me that I have to finish her Vampire Academy spin off series."

I need to reread VA and finally read the spin off series.

message 39: by Arundhati (new)

Arundhati | 1454 comments I am just gonna read as much as possible. I hope to read more than last year which was 155 for me so it's pretty ambitious. For this year I would like to pick up books which are unknown, underapreciated and underrated. Expand my reading to other genres and preferably strike some semblance of balance rather than everything fantasy. And atleast finish few non fiction books.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 382 comments Arundhati wrote: "I am just gonna read as much as possible. I hope to read more than last year which was 155 for me so it's pretty ambitious. For this year I would like to pick up books which are unknown, underaprec..."

Great plans! No preassure and just fun.

I will say once i started mixing up my genres was the best thing I ever did for my reading. I do find some genres I'm super picky about. Like thriller/murder mysteries they're hard for me to find ones I like and can't immediately figure out.

message 41: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cindytreads) | 8 comments I want to read at least 50 books this year, I'm already 10 books behind hahahah but I think I can make it.
I want to read the main books of the Grishaverse and whatever feels interesting in the moment.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 382 comments You can still catch up! My GRs goal is 20, but our library is doing 52 books and now that I work there I should probably aim for that. 🤣

message 44: by Nathan (new)

Nathan (nathan-93) Planning to around 175 books this year. Although at my current rate, I'm severely lagging behind xD

message 45: by Austin (new)

Austin George | 471 comments Nathan, you must be reading a lot. How many hours do you read a day? I envy those who can read so many books in a year!

message 46: by Nathan (new)

Nathan (nathan-93) Naw, I am nowhere near to completing my goal.
With the goal set at 175, I have hardly finished 27 of them [6 month stats]

With the remaining 6 months, I really hope that I can finish them.

For the past week, I made it a point to spend atleast 3-4 hours on a book through day. Better than smartphone time wastage

message 47: by Austin (new)

Austin George | 471 comments Still not bad.

I try to avoid smartphone just to make more time for reading. But sometimes I lose track of time with my smartphone and left ruing the wasted time.

message 48: by Nathan (new)

Nathan (nathan-93) Yeah, I can understand. I was / am still in a similar situation, but trying to reduce. 😅

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 382 comments You're doing great!

message 50: by Megan (new)

Megan | 54 comments My reading goal for this year is to read 50 books. I’m a bit behind so far because I have been struggling with my health this year but hoping to at least get to 30 books by the end of the year! This is my log https://www.goodreads.com/user_challe...
