Barbara A few with "real life" detectives
Nancy Means Wright wrote a couple mysteries set in the late 18th century featuring Mary Wollstonecraft as the governess/sleuth.
Stephanie Barron wrote the Jane Austen mysteries.
Laura Joh Rowland wrote a mystery featuring Charlotte Bronte as the sleuth.
