Donnajo | 4353 comments Looks like a good list. #1 is the only one I read. I read all of them and at least 2 of them with Ann as a buddy read. We never got around to reading the last one I think one of these days I still want to read it.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Looks good Kari! Lots of fun scifi authors! I hope to catch up with the Murderbot books this coming year myself (Martha Wells) and love John Scalzi.

Maisha Farzana (maishafarzana) I am planning to read The Guest List too. Best of luck.

Kari | 149 comments Donnajo--you must have liked it quite a bit if you read most of the series! I've been wanting to read it for a while but just never fit it in, so hopefully this will push me to do it. Prehistoric historical fiction is one of my favorite subgenres.

Ann--I wasn't a fan of Scalzi's Old Man's War series but I really like him as a person so I was excited to discover this new series he wrote really worked for me. Also, Murderbot is the best! I'm trying to hook my partner on that series.

Maisha--hopefully you'll join us when we do the group read of The Guest List in a few months! Thanks for the good wishes. :)

Maisha Farzana (maishafarzana) Kari- Of course. I would love to join.

Sandi (sandin954) | 1276 comments I have been meaning to read the Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers.

I really enjoyed both Sabriel and Company of Liars.

Becky Chambers is becoming one of my favorite sci-fi authors! I love the Wayfarer series but I also highly recommend her standalone novella To Be Taught, If Fortunate if you want a glimpse of what she's about.

Good to know you liked Sabriel and Company of Liars! They're both behemoth books I've been a bit intimidated to get started on, but I'm excited.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments An impressive list, Kari! Good for you that you have it all mapped out from the start. I'm just the opposite and fill it in as I go. Not quite as "determined" but I try not to put anything on it that I would have read anyway.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Kari: oh, The Girl With All the Gifts is quite a book. You have an ambitious list by choosing the oldest thr books, and very interesting selections. I've been toying with pre-determining a few, but haven't committed to that yet. I admire you for doing it this way!

Kari | 149 comments Lol, I don’t know what to think of that warning, Ann! And thanks for the good wishes, both you and Carol—I like getting the ten oldest off my tbr each year; it helps me make sure nothing languishes there. :) But it’s also nice to have some freedom too. I try not to be overly strict about challenges and veer away if I’m getting burned out.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Kari: I should have said, quite a ~good~ book!! ;)
