Divya8720 Hey! So, we are all going to group read a book together each month. We aren't going to read specific pages together at specific times because everyone has a different pace and no one should feel rushed or slowed. So, read the book at your own pace and we will talk about it as we go.
There will be discussion questions posted every once in a while throughout the month. And you can also post any thoughts you have about the book whenever you want. At the end of the month, there will be a huge discussion thread about our overall thoughts.
Now, you might be thinking to yourself, "how are we going to choose which book to read monthy?"
Here's the answer:
I'm going to need all of you to do something. Add 3-5 books to our group TBR. Any books you are interested in group reading. (Try to make these books vary in genres/tropes but it's okay if not.) Once everyone's added their books, I'll post a poll of 4 books and y'all can vote for which book, out of those four, you want to read. This seems really confusing, so feel free to ask questions!
❗Please add 3-5 books to our group TBR by January 3rd 2021❗

xoxo
Divya

Elisabeth (lvdwilt) | 4 comments What is the age of the group? What type of books like younger generation style or adult books?

K. Elizabeth | 2 comments How would we add books to the group tbr? Sorry I’m new to this app and haven’t worked everything out yet.

message 4: by Bella (new)

Bella | 18 comments Is it okay if we just read YA books? I’m not quite old enough for adult. If that’s a pain, I can leave this group.

Bella | 18 comments Off of my last comment, if the book that’s chosen is too old for me, I can just not read it. So I guess ignore my last comment.

living_in_books (arianel) Hi!! How do we add books to the group TBR? Ty!

Okay, so I am currently on my laptop, so this is how I did it. I'm not sure if this is the same exact thing that y'all are also seeing, but yeah. So, on the right side of your screen, you should see many options like "Discussions" and "Challenges" and etc. One of those buttons says "Bookshelf." Click that. Once you click that, there should be a search bar to the left of your screen that says "Add Books." You can search for whatever book you want to add to the group TBR and then click "add to group" under the folder "to-read."

This seems like such a long process, but it really only takes a few minutes. Let me know if this doesn't work or if you have any other questions!

Also, if you are really having a lot of trouble, just post a comment here with the book titles and authors you want to add to our TBR, I'll add 'em for you :)

We have more younger-ish people, like in their teens, right? I was thinking we could read YA. However, if enough people want to/ask about reading adult, I could post a poll between adult and YA and y'all could choose. So let me know if that's something you'd be interested in, or if you just like YA. :)

Hey Bella! I love YA, so I'm completely fine with reading only YA. I'm pretty sure we aren't going to be reading adult books, but if enough people as to, I can post a poll where you guys vote for either YA or adult. We'll see from there, but for now, it's just YA :)

I honestly don't know how to add them on a phone, so you can just comment the book titles here and I'll add 'em for you :)

living_in_books (arianel) For those wondering how to add a book to the TBR, you need to do it on a laptop and do as Divya8720 said!

Umm honestly, I just look at the genres people tag these books on GoodReads. Like, when you click on a book and to the right of your screen (on a laptop or computer) there are genres for that book, they usually say either "Young Adult" or "Adult" and that's just what I kinda focus on.

And some adult books would be fine, I think age ratings really have to do with the amount of sexual content. Like acotar should have been marked as adult. So books with sex I'm old enough to read but if the sex is super descriptive than it's too adult for me.

Everyone will have added their books to our group TBR by tomorrow. Then, I'll post a poll with 4 of the books from our TBR and y'all can vote for which book we should read for January. And then I'll post the poll results and announce the book we will be reading this month.

In short, we'll know which book we are reading by January 5th.

Of course! We're all busy sometimes and might not be able to read a book every month. Life happens. You can still be a member even if you skip a month's book😊
