Happy New Year and Welcome New Group Members!

I'm being lazy (Sorry!) and just adding a "Welcome to 2022!" note here and giving the thread a bump, rather than re-writing the whole post. Everything is still the same, so if you're new to the group, see above for helpful links, like how to create your list for the year.
Welcome to 2022, everyone! If your 2021 wasn't great, or wasn't as great as you wanted it to be (I know a lot of us are still working our way back to pre-2020), then I hope 2022 is better than 2021 was. If your 2021 was good or great, then I hope 2022 is as good or even better!
Happy reading! I'm looking forward to seeing what you all read!

Some of our group members would add the books they read, and we also added our group reads to the bookshelf. We haven't done group reads in a while, so it hasn't had anything added in a long time.

Happy New Year to all of our group members, and welcome to everyone joining us for 2024!
If you're here for the first time, or if it's been a while, we have a few resources you can look over as you get the lay of the land:
- the group homepage has a general description of the group (click the little green "more" link to expand the description)
- group rules can also be found on the homepage: click the green "Group info," then look for "rules," and click "more" to see the full rules. Mainly, our group is a friendly place and please don't spam us.
- How to post a new discussion topic (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...)
- if you'd like, introduce yourself to the group! (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...)
If you have any questions, feel free to post them here, create a new discussion for them, or add them to the appropriate discussion listed above. I try to keep up with the group, but between life and Goodreads not always sending me notifications when someone posts, sometimes I miss comments/questions. But if I don't respond, it's likely that someone else will: we've got a friendly and knowledgeable group here. You can also send me a message privately if you have a question or if I'm not responding.

Happy reading!
I'm wishing everyone a happy new year early this year in part as a sort of mea culpa for 2024.
I generally rely on notifications from Goodreads and the digest to keep up on what's happening in our group. I really do love welcoming everyone to the group and seeing what you all are reading. Sometime during the year, though, I got behind on all of my digests and I would repeatedly remind myself that I needed to get caught up. At some points I would realize that I hadn't seen a notification in my email lately, but then would get sidetracked and would forget to investigate.
The other day, I decided "No, really, I'm going to get caught up on the digests!" ... only to find out I hadn't gotten one in months. So I did some digging on Goodreads, and discovered that they changed how they do notifications (no email notifications anymore) and don't do digests anymore (?!?). So, I've unintentionally become an absentee moderator this year.
Now that I know not to look for notification emails or the digests, I'm going to keep up with the group manually in 2025. (Also, if you are interested in whether people respond to your comments, you might want to check the thread every now and then, rather than assuming you'll get an email notification, like I've always done. In theory, checking the little "Notify me when people comment" checkbox at the bottom right of your post will send you emails, and in the past that would automatically be checked whenever you posted; sometime this year they undid the automatic checkbox, and I'm not even sure if checking the box manually will do anything now.)
So, an early Happy New Year to everyone and a promise from me to be more involved again! I promise I didn't abandon this group!
