Kristie | 19136 comments I purchased Fiber Fueled: The Plant-Based Gut Health Program for Losing Weight, Restoring Your Health, and Optimizing Your Microbiome. I got it from the library and decided it was one that was better owned so I can refer back to it or highlight if needed.

I have Raven Black on my wishlist. The others all look really interesting.

Janice (jamasc) | 59882 comments I broke the ice and bought my first book of the year, Minimum Wage Magic on the strength of Rachel Aaron's series, The Legend of Eli Monpress. It was Audible's daily deal today.

message 14: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59882 comments I had 7 books from Audible's sale in my cart and I whittled it down to 1. I got Poison Orchids. I would have gotten Kill Creek but it sounds like a book I've already read. I'm concerned it may be the one. The book I read should be on my horror shelf, but I can't seem to find it.

message 15: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19136 comments I have a few in my cart I need to whittle down too. Poison Orchids is one of them.

message 16: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59882 comments Ahhh - I think I found the book I read. Hide and Seek. It was about some college kids who played hide and seek in an old abandoned house and got more than they bargained for.

I may go back and get Kill Creek. I do enjoy a haunted house tale maybe because I lived in one years ago. I pulled up the listopia on haunted houses and I have read most of the first 20 books on the list. LOL!

message 17: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19136 comments I just picked up a few from the Audible sale before it ends:

Poison Orchids
Small Town Rumors
Saving Ruby King
The Tribes: A Novel
American Panda

I also got a few physical books from Goodreads that I'm excited for:

The Four Winds
Invisible Girl
100 Cookies: The Baking Book for Every Kitchen, with Classic Cookies, Novel Treats, Brownies, Bars, and More (yes, I know... I can't eat any of it. The recipes look so delicious though!)

message 18: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59882 comments I debated about The Tribes. Did you mean Amazon instead of Goodreads?

message 19: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments I think Kristie means GR giveaways.

message 20: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19136 comments No, I meant Goodreads, but think of it as an office in California. I participated in a User Summit for them a couple of years ago. They get a lot of free books at their office and can't keep them all, so they give some away to summit participants. I received an email offering some free books to start off my year, which I happily accepted. I picked the three books above from a list of offerings. My guess is that they didn't have the summit this year.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments @Sarah: Lol! I'm already thinking I should probably just aim for badge 1 this year, instead of 2. 2 was stretching it anyway, but if I continue like this I will definitely never make it.

@Kristie: I'll share something later. I still have a lot to learn (which is also what makes it fun), but I see improvement ;-) Especially when I consider where I came from.

Of course! I didn't expect you to share right away. Though, it would be really cool to see where you started compared to where you are at some point so we can see all the progress you've made.

message 38: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59882 comments I've decided not to get anything in that sale. I had one of the books in my wishlist and I've since removed it since it no longer appeals to me.

message 39: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1786 comments I woke up to the audible notification on my phone and have spent the morning picking books. :)

I had a book from my wishlist show up too but also decided I was no longer interested, but I got these ones:

The Gods of Gotham
A Natural History of Dragons
Heretics and Heroes: How Renaissance Artists and Reformation Priests Created Our WorldThe Origins of Political Order: From Prehuman Times to the French Revolution
The Wolf
The Peripheral

message 40: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19136 comments I've noticed the I often don't get the books on my wishlist. I should probably go through it and just remove things instead of waiting for them to pop up in a sale to do it.

For this sale, the only one on my wishlist is The Gods of Gotham. I haven't decided if I'm going to get it though. I'll listen to the sample again then decide.

I saw your comment about The Watchmaker's Daughter in the other group and now I might have to rethink my decision. It sounds really good.

message 43: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19136 comments Thanks, Cherie. I checked with my library and they have the audio, so I'll probably skip it since it's available for free there. I do still want to read it.

I thought it sounded good too, Janice. I have a few others I'm considering. I just need to decide.

message 44: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59882 comments Ok, I broke down and got 2 books in the 2/1 credit sale on Audible.

I got The Watchmaker's Daughter and Clockwork Boys.

message 45: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19136 comments I'm going to go through the sale today. I've got a few credits to use and a few books I'm interested in. Actually, I have a couple of Audible decisions to make today.

I'm considering the daily deal today, Mycroft and Sherlock, but I haven't read the first in the series yet and I don't own it. The co-author, Anna Waterhouse, stated that it can be read as a standalone, so I think I may get it.

I contacted Audible because I have seen a lot of people mention that they received a discounted membership rate. They said I can get the discount for the 12 books per year membership, but there is no discount available for the 24 books per year membership. So, basically they'll give me a discount if I get the smaller package only. That doesn't seem to be the smartest marketing idea. I've been getting a lot of my books through the library and have a lot of books that I already own and still have to read, so if there is no other difference between the two plans, I'll probably go for it.

Just a heads up - The audio sync schedule has been released, but the website was updated and it isn't as easy to find. The calendar is here: https://www.audiofilemagazine.com/syn... The new season begins April 29th.

message 46: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1786 comments If you sort out what the difference is between the plans please share, I have the 24 book plan as well, mostly because it was the cheapest per book. I am curious if there are other benefits to it.

message 47: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19136 comments I will definitely let you know. The original email I received said I am eligible for the:

...Discount Audible Premium Plus Annual Plan with 12 credits for $99.50 plus applicable tax instead of $149.50 plus applicable tax. With this membership you’ll receive these benefits:

• You'll receive 12 credits all at once that you can use for 12 months, good for any Audible book regardless of price.
• Access to thousands of Audible Originals, audiobooks, and podcasts including exclusive series in the Plus Catalog
• 30% discount off additional audiobooks
• Exclusive deals and sales

As of now, we still don't have discount for the Audible Premium Plus Annual Plan with 24 credits...

My questions are:
Can I renew early at the same price if I find that the 12 books is not enough?
Am I eligible for all the same sales and Plus content with the new plan as I am now or is it limited?
What are the differences between my current plan and the Discount Audible Premium Plus Annual Plan, aside from cost and number of credits, if any?

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

I've been chosen as one of the judges for the BookTube prize! Very excited as it also means I can buy a few books. I purchased Things in Jars, Crooked Hallelujah, Pew, Mexican Gothic, Barn 8 and The Prettiest Star.

Kristie | 19136 comments Dawn wrote: "If you sort out what the difference is between the plans please share, I have the 24 book plan as well, mostly because it was the cheapest per book. I am curious if there are other benefits to it."

I added a fourth question when I emailed them: Can I schedule this to switch to this plan automatically on my renewal date or will it renew automatically when I switch? Is there something else I need to do to for it to renew at the correct time?

The answers to my above questions:

1) I would like to inform you that Discounted membership plans are special plans and they are not available for 12 months. These special plans comes for a certain period of time. At the time of your early renewal of yearly membership plan, if these special discounted plans are available, you can certainly renew your membership early with these special discounted annual plans.

2) You will get all the same benefits in these Special Discounted Annual plans which you are getting in your current plan.

3) There is only a different of the price and number of credits in your current plan and Discounted Annual plan. There is no other difference in these both plans.

4) You will not be able to automatically renew your membership under Discounted Annual plan. Your membership would be automatically renew to Audible Premium Plus Annual plan with 12 credits for which you will be charged $149.50 (Plus Applicable Taxes). I suggest you to contact us before your membership renewal date to check if there is any promotional plan available with us at that time. If there would be any Discounted plan available with us at the time of your membership renewal, we will surely go ahead and renew your membership with the Discounted Plan.

So, basically it looks like this is the same plan we currently have but for 12 books and you can renew at any time if it is available, but they don't know if it will be available. I do know several people that have gotten this discount, so it has at least been running for a long time. The deal is $99.50 for 12 books, so the best price I've seen so far.
