Thank you for the link--I will definitely check it out. My work computer is not going to let me access it, so I'll look at it when I get home. Thanks again!

I have a feeling you won't have any problems with Asterix this time around :)

You're very welcome and I hope you like it :-)

I love the names and some word play and puns :-D

I'm not very familiar with the world of comics. Is Asterix particularly iconic or historical? Just wondering why it is one of the few comics that made it to the Guardian list.

I never got into it - all that latin punning seemed too much hard work. Having now read this first one, I enjoyed it, but felt it was a lot more lightweight than I was expecting. I'm certain that the stories get better, this first one showed its origin a lot - daily newspaper cartoon strips - so the story, characters and plot were all very slight as they had to be able to be followed reading just half a page a day and sometimes missing a strip.
So, I only gave it 3 stars. But I appreciate how this little French resistance fighter must have really struck a chord in the fifties with the French not very long after the second world war, when a few resistance fighters were again standing up to an invading army.
