Paris, 1887.

Sixteen-year-old Nathalie Baudin writes the daily morgue column for Le Petit Journal. Her job is to summarize each day's new arrivals, a task she finds both fascinating and routine. That is, until the day she has a vision of the newest body, a young woman, being murdered--from the perspective of the murderer himself.

When the body of another woman is retrieved from the Seine days later, Paris begins to buzz with rumors that this victim may not be the last. Nathalie's search for answers sends her down a long, twisty road involving her mentally ill aunt, a brilliant but deluded scientist, and eventually into the Parisian Catacombs. As the killer continues to haunt the streets of Paris, it becomes clear that Nathalie's strange new ability may make her the only one who can discover the killer's identity--and she'll have to do it before she becomes a target herself.

Wow! I am really liking this one!

Nathalie (view spoiler)[I can't imagine how she'd feel "seeing a murder backwards," especially after learning that Aunt Brigitte is in the asylum for seeing things. I can't picture living in a society where you can't be a writer because of your gender so you have to dress like a guy. (hide spoiler)]

The Dark Artist (view spoiler)[is FREAKY! Those letters would freak me out, especially once Nathalie realized he'd been there all along watching her...ugh! (hide spoiler)]

Anges (view spoiler)[was murdered and that upset me, truly! I LOVED her and Nathalie's relationship! Just awful. (hide spoiler)]

Louis (view spoiler)[ The KEY was made such a big deal of by Aunt Brigitte. I wonder if his key is the same. I didn't think the Dead Artist was the real guy, but maybe he was. How is Louis connected? Did he use Simone or is she helping him get information from Nathalie, or is he somehow connected to the murders? I need to go finish this! (hide spoiler)]

I was not expecting that ending! What the heck! And I didn't care too much for (view spoiler)[how Zoe was suddenly a part of it. Like where did she come from? But the reason she did what she did makes sense, I guess. But that last sentence! Ugh... (hide spoiler)]

Nathalie (view spoiler)[ was a pretty strong young woman, especially for her time. For being 16 she was pretty darn gutsy. lol (hide spoiler)]
