Robert Lambregts (robert_lambregts) | 5 comments I'm not sure if this really falls under this category, but in a way it also does. Recently I've read 'The Eight Master Lessons of Nature: What Nature Teaches Us about Living Well in the World' by Gary Ferguson. This book is amazing. It teaches so much about things that we can learn from nature. But why Ï'm posting it here is because it really gives you a positivity boost. Especially in these times, with covid, self isolation, depression and loneliness, I felt that this book was really uplifting. So in a sense, to me it's a self-help book that way.

Becky (compactjitters) | 6 comments I really enjoy all of Jen Sincero books. They are funny, upbeat, and positive. I really enjoy her stories and examples. Her books boil down to be positive, have a plan with a goal, and don't give up. I find myself smiling every time I listen to her books and that in itself is worth it.

That looks like something I would really enjoy, thank you, Robert! Adding to my huge TBR pile.

But first, I'd like to try one that Audiobook Accomplice (Gillian) recommends: How We Got to Now: Six Innovations That Made the Modern World.

I could use all the uplifting reads I can handle right now.

Maren (twc301student) | 1 comments Work Clean The life-changing power of mise-en-place to organize your life, work, and mind by Dan Charnas

This book was life changing for me. I had just listened to Anthony Bourdain narrate his book Kitchen Confidential, and was searching for books about mise-en-place, the practice of putting all ingredients and tools in place before starting to cook. Charnas interviewed chefs and entertainers and regular office workers about how this organization practice has helped them. The audiobook got me motivated to learn more about working in kitchens. When the pandemic sent us all home for a year, I was able to organize the distance learning process for my kids. They were able to learn in a consistent and calm environment. I felt good about getting breakfast and lunch on the table for all of us, on schedule, just like at school.

Anya | 29 comments I am currently reading "Why we make mistakes" by Joseph T. Hallinan.
I had it for many years but I was too young to stay focused.. Maybe it's not the usual kind of self improvement, but learning to make less trivial mistakes (or just knowing when we do) is intresting and always useful!
