I just wanted to note that I noticed a typo in my board - I missed the E and added K. I don't know how I did that, but it is now fixed. Letters are A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J. So sorry about that. I feel so silly not to have noticed it sooner. :p

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Hi, team! Melanie just added me. What’s our strategy and where do I need to help? So excited!

message 12: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments Welcome Andrea! We actually haven’t discussed strategy yet. I was just thinking reading as much as possible to get a chance at a lot of board pins :-)

What is your ideas?

message 13: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Maybe try a checkerboard pattern until we find some hits? That usually works pretty well. We could do it from two different corners, since there are so many of us, if we like.

I’m open to other ideas too, of course.

I should have my first book done tonight. I hit a really great audio today that I’m blazing through. Such a tough story, but it’s deep and emotional, which is exactly what I love. The Feathered Bone

That book sounds so good!! adding it to my wishlist :)

message 15: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments It does feature suicide, to let you know. I wasn’t expecting that.

message 16: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Ooh I loved The Feathered Bone! I've had the pleasure of meeting the author and hearing her speak. Very talented.

First review posted!

message 17: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Great job, Staci!

message 18: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Fantastic guess, Staci! It was a hit!

message 19: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments So exciting!

message 20: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Do we want to all focus on uncovering the rest of this first ship or search for a second one? Either way works. I'm just trying to decide what to do when I finish my book tonight and would love y'all's input.

message 21: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Good question. I lean toward searching for the next one, but don’t have strong feelings about it.

message 22: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Sounds great. Thanks for the thoughts, Staci. I'm heading over to post my book.

message 23: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments I’m also keen on everyone searching for the next ship - how many ships are on one board again?

Hope to have 2, maybe 3 books to post on Wednesday when I’m back from vacation.

message 24: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Ooh! I hope you're having a nice vacation, Sarita. There are five ships on each board.

My guess of A-2 was a miss, but Staci's on a roll with two straight hits.

message 25: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I have a few books I can't count coming up (started them before 1/25), but I'll keep starting new ones that I will be able to count as well. I usually have many books going at once. It's just a bit of a transition over here as I finish up some titles for other challenges. So my reading pace might pick up a bit in a few days to a week.

message 26: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments No prob! I also have a few books going at once.

Vacation is nice - our beaches are still closed but at least we can walk and can jog along the beach road and the change in scenery is always nice!

message 27: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I didn't have any work hours today, so I cruised through two audiobooks at 2.5x speed. Karen Kingsbury's 9/11 series is so emotional! I really enjoyed it. I didn't think the latter two books would be able to hold a candle to the first one, which blew me away both times I read it, but book #3 (Every Now and Then) was just as good.

message 28: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments How's your reading coming heading into the weekend?

message 29: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments I loved that series!

message 30: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments I’m about 70% done with my one book, so should be done after the weekend. Hopefully will be done with the other one by Wednesday. It is Opening Moves from Steven James - so good and fast pace but creepy so try to not read too much of that at once.

message 31: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Ooh. I recently read a book that I had to take breaks from for that same reason. I hope the rest of the book goes okay for you, and that you have a light and happy book to read next.

message 32: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments Yes, my other book is a light read 😊

message 33: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments So glad you found balance there. I did that too. After my creepy read, I chose a Melissa Tagg book. ☺️

message 34: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Audios are helping me cruise at a good clip right now. Which book format do y'all prefer?

My preference is paperback, but I read Kindle and audio as well. I'm such a moody reader, so I often go with my mood on which format I choose on any given day.

message 35: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Posted another book. :) Hoping to cruise through another audiobook tomorrow after church.

message 36: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments If I had unlimited funds and reading time - paperback for sure. But 90% of my books is kindle and then audiobooks! For some reason I was against audiobooks for a while, then tried one and found it a great option especially during boring work tasks. I recently Remembered as a child I also listened a lot to tapes. The only thing I find with audiobooks is that I sometimes miss part of the story’s details when I get focused on something else.

message 37: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Yes! Books on tape were a childhood staple for me. I never thought of them as audiobooks, because we always called them books on tape, until just a few years ago when I was reminiscing about them.

I know what you mean about missing some details. That happens to me sometimes too. But I love that I can listen while doing chores around the house.

That unlimited funds thing sounds great. Let me know when you find that mysterious money tree! Hehe.

message 38: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Hello all! I very rarely listen to audio books. I've listened to a couple on road trips over the past 10-15 years so not often at all. However, I did just this month start listening to Little Women via audio book as I thought that might be an easier way to stay with it. May continue on with classics.

I like physical and Kindle books equally. Wouldn't say I prefer one over the other.

Sarita, hope your vacation and birthday have been spectacular!

message 39: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Happy birthday, Sarita!

Staci, that’s a great way to explore more classic books. Enjoy!

message 40: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I have six books waiting to be checked. I'm trying for another one or two today.

message 41: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments Thank you @Andrea

@Staci - our final two nights away. Just sad beaches was closed. Some rules don’t make sense. We are not allowed to go to beaches which is outside and lots of space but we can go to restaurants and malls. Anyway - we could take walks on beach boardwalks and watch the waves which is always good for the soul!

message 42: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments I love listening to classics on audio

message 43: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I'm sorry the beaches were closed. None of the covid-19 regulations make sense to me, and they're usually all used hypocritically. I'm so ready for the restrictions to all be lifted and allow us to live in freedom again.

I'm glad you've been able to find some fun things to do despite the closures. Hopefully there are some unique and enjoyable memories you've made.

message 44: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Checking in on...

Davina, Megan, and Tricia

How is the reading coming along, gals?

message 45: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Woohoo! First ship has been sunk. :-)

message 46: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments So exciting!

message 47: by Vinnie (new)

Vinnie Hey team, I'm sorry I haven't posted yet. I had a crazy week with some personal hardships and it's the last week of the semester in school, so I needed to get the grades in order, etc...
Buuut I think, I can finish my first book tonight or tomorrow and then I have a week off and will be able to read a lot!

message 48: by Vinnie (new)

Vinnie Sarita, I'm sorry about the beaches, it really doesn't make sense. We've been in hard lockdown in Austria since Christmas and I just had to cancel our plans for our holidays next week - we wanted to spend time in a little, cozy tree house...would have been perfect, but well, maybe another time.

I'm also listening to a lot of audiobooks these days because of finances. I have a Scribd subscription and love it.
But I also just ordered a few used copies of some classics and can't wait to finally sit down and read them.

I'm currently listening to Awaking Wonder Opening Your Child's Heart to the Beauty of Learning by Sally Clarkson It's so good. I recommend it very much of you are a homeschooler or educator or mom. Really wonderful!

message 49: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments I’ve also discovered Scribd end last year and love it. So much nicer and cheaper than audible!

message 50: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Ooh Austria! I would love to visit there someday. Best wishes on final days of the semester.
