Challenge starts: 1/25/2021
Challenge ends: when a team completes five boards

-Books must be at least 200 pages
-No picture books, graphic novels, cookbooks...basically anything with little words and majority pictures
-Books must be started on or after challenge start date

Hello, ladies. I'm excited for this challenge to begin!

Has anyone thought of some strategies? How about giving our team a name, just for fun.

Hi all. I think that sounds fun, Lanelle!

I'm up for a team name, but I'm not very good at thinking of them! :P

I thought of "3 (or 4) Loose Cannons" as a team name. 3 because we are Team Three and 4 because there are four of us. We could drop one of the numbers though.

I imagine there are other ship related names we could come up with.

As for strategy, I was wondering if it would be good for each of us to be responsible for a quadrant of the board. We would limit our guesses to our own quadrant, instead of spreading them all over.

If one of us did find a ship, we could ask for help in sinking it though.

Just some ideas.

And that strategy sounds fine to me. If one of us rushes through our quadrant, we could always help someone else out. At least we can give it a shot and adjust it later if we find a better way. ;)

How shall we divide up the board?

Here's a picture my husband made for us. What does everyone think?

Shall we divide up the quadrants clockwise alphabetically? Something like this...

Angie - A1-E5
Ashley - F1-J5
Lanelle - F6-J10
Tiffany - A6-E10

Angie - Rows 1-2
Ashley - Rows 3-4
Lanelle - Rows 5-6
Monica - Rows 7-8
Tiffany - Rows 9-10

And of course these are flexible; if you finish your assignment early or want to pile on to sink an identified ship, don't worry about helping out in someone else's section. ;)

It looks like you found the reporting thread. You'll need to change your report to look like the example that was given.

And did you notice which quadrant that has been assigned to you? Although that might change if we get another member to our team.

I've seen many, many folks complain about how limited the app is. I haven't even tried using it!

You need at add more information to your report: start date, finish date, pages, and target spot.

I just wanted to note that I noticed a typo in my board - I missed the E and added K. I don't know how I did that, but it is now fixed. Letters are A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J. So sorry about that. I feel so silly not to have noticed it sooner. :p

Lol! No - I just completely messed up and didn't catch the mistake until now. 😆

Sure! Let's try it like this:

Angie - Rows 1-2
Ashley - Rows 3-4
Lanelle - Rows 5-6
Monica - Rows 7-8
Tiffany - Rows 9-10

That's sadly true.

We've got four ships hit and two of them sunk, ladies! Looking good!

Strategy-wise, do we want to finish sinking the two we've hit so we know which size we're still looking for? Or stick to our rows until we find the last one?

That's a good question. I see advantages to both. Although, I am chasing after a ship I found in my rows that might be drifting into Monica's area.

Speaking of Monica, I wish she would check in. We could use her help.

Lanelle, Monica might need help posting her books. I was on her team in the past, and if I recall right, she is visually impaired. It might be helpful if one of you will privately message her and see if she needs assistance or is able to post on her own.

Just so everyone knows, I started a reading marathon yesterday. I'll be posting a bunch of books over the next week.

I haven't heard back from Monica yet, but it looks like we've hit the battleship, so if someone can hit J7 and J8, go for it, and we'll have to keep up the checkerboard pattern until we find the destroyer.

This is looking like it may be a wild week at work, so I may not have quite as much reading (listening) time as usual, but I'll contribute as much as I can!

I just asked for 'J8' on the Review thread and I'll finished another book today and ask for 'J7" if no one gets to it first :)

It looks like we have found all the ships. Now we need to get them sunk so we can start on the next board.

As anticipated, this was an extremely busy week! I hope to get back into the game next week. Great job on finding the last ship! Just two more shots needed--if we can hit the right one. ;)
