Discuss the Last Battle here. What did you think of it? What did you like/dislike about it? Who did you like best? What do you think were main themes in the book?

Elizabeth Faustina (ourladysthimble) | 97 comments Oo I love this book! The whole thing is really hard to read but the ending is b e a u t i f u l.

Yes it is! I really like this one.

Elizabeth Faustina (ourladysthimble) | 97 comments I finished reading this just a few days ago. I noticed something I hadn't before. Near the end, when they were standing in new Narnia, they were talking about how funny it was that when they went through the door of the shed the inside was much bigger than the outside. Then Lucy made a comment, saying something to the effect of that back on earth, they had once had something in a stable that was bigger then the whole world, comparing it to what they had just come through. I'm pretty sure she meant Jesus Christ, and that is such a lovely analogy I can't believe I missed it before.

Oh that is lovely! I didn't notice it either.

Elizabeth Faustina (ourladysthimble) | 97 comments I'll have to go find the quote later.

Christi mancha | 1 comments It took me a long time to finally commit to The Last Battle. Once I read it I was so glad I had. I agree that is it a beautiful book and I do remember the “something in a manger” quote. Definitely Christ.

It does seem a bit grim at first, but the ending is beautiful. Rather like 'Lord of the World' by Robert Hugh Benson.

Elizabeth Faustina (ourladysthimble) | 97 comments Finally found the quote.

“”It seems, then,” said Tirian, smiling himself, “that the stable seen from within and the stable seen from without are two different places.”
“Yes,” said Lord Digory. “Its inside is bigger than its outside.”
“Yes,” said Queen Lucy. “In our world too, a stable once had something inside it that was bigger than our whole world.””
