Discussion thread for Don Quixote, week 5.

I’m not entirely sure how I feel about the diversionary tales we get in Don Quixote. The translator notes that they weren’t super popular at the time and Cervantes was criticized for putting a stop to the pace of the novel. I’m curious what the purpose of these interludes was.
