I've struggled quite a bit last year with updating and engaging in this group. I spent so much time on zoom and other virtual resources, that I could just not be bothered to engage online with anyone outside of work. I do feel bad about this because I am a moderator on here because I feel like I didn't contribute much. Anyway, this is all to say, that this year I have no reading plan, other than reading whenever and whatever I like. I am also currently not accepting any ARCs because I can't guarantee I will actually write a review. My goal is to be more present in this group and to continue to foster mindful reading.

Karina | 1069 comments Don't feel bad! Last year was a huge adjustment for everyone. I think we're all looking to find a balance. I really agree with fostering mindful reading! Give yourself grace and be kind, the community will always be here and we understand!

Absolutely! What Karina said :D You have absolutely no reason to feel bad- it's not like you left your dog on the side of the road or something. What you did was live through a global catastrophe, doing your best to remain safe and sane while also trying to help preserve a functioning economy. Good job, you!

Reading shouldn't be a chore; neither should this community. Recognize what you need to do for your mental and physical wellbeing and then respect your own boundaries. And even if it takes this whole year to recharge your batteries, after redlining them last year, don't worry about it. Be as kind to yourself as you would be to someone else :)

Juli, I am so sorry that you were feeling bad about getting here. I struggle too so I know what that feels like. Most of us working or busy with other commitments and we just do our best to get here when we can and enjoy that time. It looks like you are having a great start the year with some fun books!

I also loved The Last Time I Lied! It's still my favorite Sager novel but I do still have to read Lock Every Door and Home Before Dark.

Charleen (charleenlynette) | 1688 comments The Bromance series is so much fun. And Hyperbole and a Half is just brilliant, it has one of the most relatable descriptions of depression I've ever read.
