Character reactions just didn't work for me. Since this was not written by a self-published author, I expected more.

Fair points, Jay. But like you, I still liked the storyline. And the beginning was a gotcha kind of opening.

Oh, I thought it was SP. There isn't a publisher listed on Amazon? I know there was one on our poll that wasn't SP, but I thought this one was.

Now, on to my review...

I'm not going to leave one because this book wasn't for me. I did finish it, but if I was going to review, it would be 2 stars. I didn't care for the characters, and there were so many times I was annoyed and wanted to skim.

Sorry, just wasn't my thing.

I think you and I might be in the same boat with this one, Mel.

It just wasn't my genre, as I mentioned in the review, but it was believable to me, so I did rate it a 4 Star.

Just finished NEVER GONNA TELL and here's my review, which should have also posted to the book page. "A teenage journalist gets the news scoop of her life in this YA mystery that explores love with the ultimate bad boy, high school drama and high crime with heartfelt feeling and a wry sense of humor. Smart, fast-paced, spicy and very relatable, NEVER GONNA TELL is an easy, fun read. Author Ross’s bright observations about life, love, parents and mean girls and tight writing style is a pleasure to read."

Review for Never Gonna Tell by Sarah M Ross. While I almost finished this book, I won’t be leaving a review online as I’ve given it three stars. The book started out fun and caught my attention, but the trope of nerdy girl discovering bad boy has a thing for her was the first turn-off. When Reagen then sneaks down the alleyway to spy on the local mobsters as they murder a guy was just too far fetched for me. Perhaps if she’d witnessed it from the window of a nearby building it would have been more believable. From there, I couldn’t engage with the story. Once it got to the mobsters trying to abduct Reagan from the hospital, I closed the book. The characters didn’t gel with me, and while I appreciate YA readers want the larger-than-life MCs, for me, Reagan and Marco lacked depth and their actions were too audacious to be credible. I think this book will appeal to YA readers who can overlook a implausible plot for a wild, non-stop adventure with a good dollop of romance.

It was 3 stars for me too...

Ups & Downs...

When I started reading, I was totally in to it. It seemed like it was going to be full of action and adventure, and for the most part, that was true. Unfortunately, I struggled with the characters, and the believability. The characters and I didn't really mesh well, and there were numerous times I was like, no way that would happen. There was a lot that was just too far-fetched, and while I did finish the book, it just didn't leave me with warm and fuzzy feelings.

With that said, the author is clearly talented, and I wouldn't be opposed to picking up something else from her. I would also still recommend this one to anyone that enjoys outlandish storylines, and larger than life characters.

It seems like a lot of us had the same feelings toward it.
