I didn't want to wait, so I used Naguib Mahfouz's Miramar for this one.
ميرامار
Fun stuff to copy and paste Arabic. Everything around it gets reversed!

War and Peace is on the list. Great choice!

Doi...I'm currently half way through the War and Peace audio and didn't think to put this one lol. I have rickshaw boy (chinese) on there right now, but I also used it for transport so I'm going to see how much I can do without double dipping.
I'm reading Η μητέρα του σκύλου [The Daughter] by Matesis, Pavlos (1990, Greece). I'm almost halfway, a fun read.

I've finished Η μητέρα του σκύλου [The Daughter] by Pavlos Matesis of Greece (1990). Somewhat of an obscure list book, with only about 1000 ratings by readers.
The main character is a woman in her sixties who tells about her life when she was young in WW2 and shortly after, and also some about her later life. She seems to be an unreliable narrator, for example sometimes claiming to have become successful actress (mostly on tours to small cities) and other times admitting she never had a big part. It becomes more postmodern at the end so that the reader is wondering how much of this really happened. I'd rate it at about 3.7 on the 5 star scale.

I'm still in the middle of it, but even still, I'd recommend A Tale of Love and Darkness by Amos Oz.
