Play Book Tag discussion

This saga is set in India in the 1950s, and focuses on the personal lives of the characters set against the backdrop of great national events and changes in India. The book focuses on the lives of the members of four families who are linked by friendship and marriage, and the amount of detail included in the book immerses you in India during that time period. There is such a long list of characters, so I found that I needed to keep referring to the family tree at the start of the book to remind myself who each person was. For me, this broke up the flow of the book, and impacted on my enjoyment of it. Whilst the ending was realistic given the time period in which this novel is set, I would have preferred a different ending.
