I can't remember the name of the book. The wife (white woman) found out she had a few months (or maybe weeks/few days) to live, so she reach out to her best friend, a black woman. I think the black woman was a journalist (traveling job)/lives in the city . Her dying wish to her best friend, is to take care of her husband and daughter when she;s gone. As the story progress, it was reveal that in college, the husband had a thing for the best friend but some event occurred (can't remember) which lead him to dating and eventually marrying the white woman. thanks.

You're welcome. It's one of those books (with that trope which I tend to enjoy in general) that really stayed with me despite having read it so long ago.

It's also reminded me that I have another one by that author that I haven't read yet...
