Glenna | 7 comments Hi! I'm always looking for a good, new time travel novel. All of my favorites are a bit older: Time and Again by Jack Finney; Doomsday, Blackout and All Clear by Connie Willis; Timescape by Gregory Benford; Kindred by Octavia Butler, and Timeline by Michael Crichton - but I also liked the more recent Version Control by Dexter Palmer, Here and Now and Then by Mike Chen, Time After Time by Lisa Grunwald, and a few more I can't think of right now. Of course there's also Night Watch by Terry Pratchett if you're a Discworld fan which I most definitely am! :)

Beth Sponzilli (bethsponzilli) | 16 comments My faves are: The Doomsday Book by Connie Willis, Kindred by Octavia E Butler, The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley (she has many other time slip ones), Time and Again by Jack Finney, Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, Replay by Ken Grimwood, What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon, Time And Time Again by Ben Elton, All Our Wrong Todays (can’t remember author)

Cheryl (cherylllr) What's interesting, and what may help you as you consider each next read, is that Time Travel is, as you say, an element, a trope. It's not a genre. There are science fiction books on the shelves, but also romances, and thrillers, but also family epics, horror, fantasy, etc.

The ones that often are of special interest to folks who are not used to a lot of SF are:

Replay
Time and Again
Kindred
The Mirror

Cheryl (cherylllr) I will take a look at the 'who writes like' website... but I shouldn't, as goodreads has given me more wonderful recommendations than I could read in a couple of lifetimes!

Cheryl (cherylllr) :smiles:

By goodreads I actually don't mean the recommendation feature (though you can have it use just a particular shelf and segregate kids' books). I meant groups like this, friends, Listopias, etc.

Great that your library has access! I don't believe that any of mine do, but I did send the website a request that they make it easier for me to check. I don't even want to guess how much a personal subscription would cost.
