Hey guys! So how do you people read? Do you listen to audio-books, read hardbacks, paperbacks? How about an e-reader? Do you guys listen to music while you read? Any interesting habits you have while you read? Comment below!

I read mainly paperbacks and hardbacks. And I do listen to music while I read! An interesting habit I have is sometimes when something happens in a book that I don't like, I flip back to a scene that I enjoyed and re-read it.

That's great, I agree with basically everything you said XD. Except I don't really listen to audio books because then my attention strays lol.

Ken- I don't read manga lol, but that sounds cool! So you read manga online?

Logan- I also prefer physical books too. Haha, it is quite satisfying to read while it's raining, it's quite calming. :)

Ken (Got Shot Yet Again) (thesaladmaniscomming) I do both physical and online (Online is always free though)

Ken- Cool!

I agree with you Ash! Haha, I crave chocolate too XD. I literally always have a bar of chocolate by me when reading lol.

message 9: by nαомι (new)

nαомι αndιno (nndno) I love reading paperbacks and hardbacks but since Covid I've switched mostly to e-books and pdfs.
I looove listening to the sound of rain while reading so I use this Rainy Victorian London ambience sound from YouTube and sometimes I search for other specific ambiences that go with my book's vibe :)

Jess (oracle_of_madness) (oracle_of_madness) I love hardbacks and paperbacks, but mostly all my arc's go to my kindle. I do listen to music and read, I use Spotify and they have lots of specific book playlists, or I'll just go by mood and listen to an album

Ash- Aaah Butterfingers, Almond Joys and Hershey's are my favorite. :)

Naomi- Yeah, I feel you. It's harder to get hard copies of books now at this time. But ooh that sounds great! I should check that out, it never occurred to me to listen to that, I've just been reading when it actually rains XD.

Jesse- That's cool! Yeah I go by moods too. It kind of depends on the mood of my book and I'll change the music lol.

Rushali Gupta (happy_soul) | 13 comments I mostly read e-books and sometimes paperbacks, generally on my bed. Sometimes, I prefer music while reading but mostly, I like reading in silence. I need to be focused while reading and even a small sound disturbs me.

Ash- Ooh! You should try them. :)

Rushali- I can understand why music can be distracting lol. Sometimes you just need silence to focus. :)

Yeah....But sometimes if the music is synonymous to what I am currently reading, it feels good!

Definitely!

There are times when I could read in the middle of like a concert and other days when I'll freak out if I hear a bird chirping outside

̷R̷̷e̷̷y̷ (detectingeagle310) | 194 comments I'm fine with anything as long as I get to read a good book. I like listening to music while I read. It just blends into the background so perfectly.........

message 18: by nαомι (last edited Mar 16, 2021 01:27PM) (new)

nαомι αndιno (nndno) I get my e-books and pdfs from this website: https://b-ok.lat/
You have to create an account but it's free and doesn't ask for credit card info. Just an email address and then you can download 10 books per day (books and textbooks as well). And also in many languages - I've seen english, spanish, french, italian and russian)
I hope you guys find it useful!

 ̷R̷̷e̷̷y̷ (detectingeagle310) | 194 comments https://stories.audible.com/discovery

It's free for the time being due to COVID

message 21: by Raynah (new)

Raynah I mostly read hardbacks and paperbacks but I also love listening to audiobooks, preferably for contemporary's. I enjoy listening to instrumental music while I read as well

message 22: by mel (new)

mel (melthemuse) When I first say the topic name I thought, "Well I read with my eyes of course" but then I looked at the actual comments, oops!
I like reading hardcover most of the time but paperback works just as fine. I hate audiobooks, but online books are okay. I love listening to acoustic music while reading as well.

I like listening to instrumental music while reading too! Sometimes if I listen to music with words while reading it can get quite distracting lol. Instrumental music is good for reading .:)

message 24: by Connor (new)

Connor (catchthesewords) Mostly ebooks and audiobooks. I have a small collection of braille books.

message 25: by S. (new)

S. (bookworm_ultra_mega) | 44 comments I mostly read not online books, with a few exeptions. I read where ever I can, whenever I can.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

lemme start off by saying that when i saw "how do you read", my first thought was "with your eyes, bert"
but anyway, i like reading physical copies of books (preferably hardcovers), but getting into ebooks because of the pandemic. for some reason i hate audiobooks with a burning passion

message 27: by mel (new)

mel (melthemuse) Oh my gods, same. That's the first thought that came to mind to me as well.
I always really hate audiobooks, I don't know why. Maybe it's the peoples voices..

message 28: by caraaaaa (new)

caraaaaa | 6 comments exactly. for me it’s the voices and like I don’t know if y’all do this where as you read I create like a whole movie in my head. but if it’s not my voice I can’t do that and I get distracted. so I can honestly only read like a book or like a book/kindle because then I can’t get distracted

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Is this supposed to be a q I read hard copies

message 30: by kait ☾ (new)

kait ☾ (ktelg) | 15 comments I read hardbacks and paperbacks, and I have never tried an e-reader or an audio book mainly because I like to hold the book in my hands. I also listen to music while I read and I have a habit of tabbing my books as I read them! It helps me to remember important scenes and quotes whenever I want to reread the book!

message 31: by Maple (new)

Maple (bookish_maple) I read paperbacks, hardbacks, audiobooks, and e books !
I prefer paperbacks and hardbacks but whatever form I can get the book in is great :)

I mostly read paperbacks, and I have to read in complete silence

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

i mostly read ebooks and paperbacks. i can't listen to audiobooks as my attention always wanders. i read in complete silence unless i know a character death is coming, in which case i play my depressing music playlist and turn on my fairy lights to set the mood.

message 34: by Eve L (new)

Eve L | 315 comments I read mostly paperbacks. I would try a kindle or a nook but I love to see the actually book and hold the actual paper. Hardcover books aren’t terrible but I think the dust jacket is just a little annoying to read with. I usually just take it off.

message 35: by 几ㄖ几丨 (last edited Aug 18, 2021 01:20PM) (new)

几ㄖ几丨 (sarcasticwatermelon) | 111 comments Hardbacks are my FAVORITE books to read, and ebooks come next, but I don't really like listening to audiobooks, and paperbacks and I don't have a very good relationship.

message 36: by MarleyTheDragon (new)

MarleyTheDragon | 318 comments i have a kindle for convience but love cheap paperbacks for my bookshelf

message 37: by abby (new)

abby (abby-j) @above sameee

while physical copies of books feel closer to me emotionally, I don't have many — Kindle is just too convenient!

message 38: by Rafia (new)

Rafia (rafiagreste) I literally read on anything. But i love purchusing hardcover books after reading an ebook copy to see if it was worth it

message 39: by Darby (new)

Darby I like a good mix. I used to love physical books but nowadays I just can’t for some reason. Ebooks are more convenient for me, and audiobooks are such calming ways to go to sleep or wake up. I can’t choose!
