What influenced Emira's decision to call Peter instead of Alix at the supermarket? Most likely Katherine, but it's probably for the best that she didn't call Alix given her pattern of performative wokeness.

The jury is out as to whether Kelley has a fetish for black people, but Alix definitely does (a non-sexual one), and it's hugely illustrated in the Thanksgiving scene. She only sees her black friends as objects to impress Emira.

The "Fun Age" that the title refers to might be that age in life when we are still trying to figure things out, like Emira is.

Alix, Alix, Alix.... she's a married woman and a mother who is absolutely obsessed with her high school ex for the weirdest reasons. And everything she does is to better her image.

Overall, we loved the book, and can't wait to see what else Kiley Reid publishes!
