Although I might be tongue-tied when meeting this author who dedicated himself to the incredible research required for this expose,
However, I'd like to tell him that his sensitive use of direct quotes added to my understanding of attitudes, and therefore of the unconscionable behaviors.

Cinda Bennett | 8 comments Indeed the research is comprehensive. I'd like to compliment him on the insertion of photographs throughout the novel, they illustrate the text as you're reading it rather than a placement midway through the book. It added another immediate dimension, enhancing the story, lending a haunting visual aspect to the tragic reality. I read it on my Kindle app, so I'm not sure if the photographs are the same in a print edition.

I would like David Grann to tell the readers what inspired him to write this book. His research is phenomenal, so thorough. I like the way the pictures are included throughout. I understand a movie is coming.. Wow!

Colleen | 10 comments This book was amazingly tragic to me. The Osage people were abused beyond measure. It was hard to read what has happened to them, but, that being said, David Grann was able to make it readable with the way he wrote it. The facts, interspersed with pictures and quotes, and bits of the good parts of the Osage people's lives made that possible, all the while being so upset with how they were treated.

The photos in my paperback are also presented in the correct flow. I agree this adds immediate dimension to the text.

I was overwhelmed with the Tragedy which cannot be erased. Nevertheless I have to believe it benefits us to be conscious and and demanding of humane/respectful treatment for all.
